MERCEDES | ESL EIS KEY BENCH TESTING | NO START DIAGNOSTICS | SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Mercedes IR keys have been around since around 2000, common no start failures are bad key, bad Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) or bad Electronic Steering Lock (ESL). Replacing these modules are not plug and play and require advanced programming skills.
In this video we will go through some of the various EISs, ESLs and keys that Mercedes offers. And showcase hands on a customer case bench test where vehicle would not start. We will use bench harnesses to test the system and identify where the problem lies and rectify it. As a bonus, we will also demonstrate usage of the Xhorse VVDI MB in reading keys and testing the steering lock functionality through the CAN Bus.

Yaser and the crew at VEProfessionals definitely know their stuff. Sent my 2006 CLS55 AMG key and EIS to them because my FOB would not turn the ignition to accessory 1 or 2 so I couldn't tune the vehicle after some mods. Yaser and crew found that the EIS was fine, but the key was bad. They were able to program a generic key to do everything I needed, and sent both keys and EIS back. All in all it took me two (2) weeks and it works great. If you have issues with either your EIS or FOB/Key, Yaser and his crew are the people to send it to.

Very informative, thank you. So you cant diagnose what unit is faulty with any obd tester or multimeter? You need special tools. The motorola chip in older key is the common failure point, right? Then if esl motor sounds weak its likely going to fail. If both working keys fail same time eis could be the problem. I have two old keys and cant figure out what should I repair, Both keys have worked intermittently. I guess I should start with making new key cause it's good to have anyway.

OK I HAVE A QUESTIONS? I OWN A 2004 MERCEDES CLK500 WITH THE KEYLESS GO AND KEYLESS START. I ALSO OWN A 2005 CLK 55 AMG CABRIOLET , WICH I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THE KEYLESS GO AND KEYLESS ENTRY. WHAT ITEMS WOULD I HAVE TO REMOVE FROM THE 2004 AND INSTALL IN THE 2005? CAUSE SOME PEOPLE SAY THE CLUSTER HAS TO B REMOVED ALSO. IF U HAVE ANY INFO IT WOULD GLADLY B APPRICIATED! Could a bad alternator also cause a no start? aux battery and main battery are new both about 3 months. I replaced them because it wouldn’t start it started up when I replaced the aux battery for about a week then no start again. Key is responsive and dashboard lights up but no response when key is inserted and steering snd is not locked. Any ideas?? Bad key, EIS, alternator? Thanks

My 2009 mercedes benz c350 when you get the key in the ignición switch the esl unlock but when you turn the key the dash board does goes on, this still the esl has a malfuntion?

Please any ideas of what could be the problem with my c350 w204 ignition on light comes on the dashboard but no cranking but if you crank from the front Sam relay the engine started I go on diagnose I got B169213 and it says output circuit 58d has malfunction,there’s an open circuit but couldn’t see the wires having issue

thanks for the info, I'm wrong p2071 das doesn't send engine start request, eis works without problem with other key, but the new key programmed by Mercedes Benz doesn't work, it says computing data please wait. could it be the ecu causing the problem because it does not send the engine start request. please answer my question

How is the situation if i put the key in, sometimes it unlock immediately, sometimes i need to wait for few seconds, sometimes no response i need to try couple times, then is it the key the els or eis？

I purchased one of your emulators yesterday. Today, after several hundred attempts to get my 1999 CLK430 W208 steering lock to disengage, it finally worked! I immediately removed the battery cable and disconnected the wiring from the ESL. Since it is unlocked and disconnected, is there any reason to remove it before installing the emulator?

Question - 2005 Kompressor. Battery died and key would not turn, replaced battery and key now turns, steering wheel unlocks, lights on the dash, radio works, etc.. but car does not start. No signal to the relay. In the video, it says you can turn the key on an older car, everything should be fine with the ESL and EIS. Is there ever a situation where it would turn, everything working except for the ability to start? Is this something you guys can fix?

hi there. i have problem with EIS and i was trying to take out and also to take out the ESL, the SURPRISE: no ESL on my car. in place of the ESL or emulator is just an sponge and there is no blue plug for ESL. how is this possible? now i need to syncronise only new EIS and old keys to car? no more ESL? please give me some info that can take me out from fog.
