No need to use force to pry the push pin plug out as shown on the old lanyard...just push the center pin all the way in.... it will drop and fall out after you just gently pry the plug out - no need for forcing it with pry pliers etc... install with plug in place and then push pin in flush as it was before as shown at the end of the video..

PLEASE DO NOT USE any metal in vicinity of fuel cap. Even tiny static electricity sparkle/current might create explosion. Use plastic/3D printing if you wish to do home repair.

Close examination of my video reveals that the exposed metal wire was dipped into liquid plastic to eliminate exposure....similar to the way the metal cap itself is shielded by plastic.
