How to manually unlock the gas cap on your Mercedes sedan if it is stuck, locked, or won't open.

Thanks for this video I locked my car to ask if they accepted Apple Pay and since my car was locked, I obviously couldn’t open the stupid thing. Gave it a good pulling as well but luckily it wasn’t too hard. Got home and saw this video. Little things you know

My 2015 GLA just had this issue today with the door not releasing. Watched your vid, and now fixed. Works normally. Note: on the 2015 there is a big piece of grey insulation in that cavity, all I did was pull it back and now it works normally. I don’t know why, or what it was obstructing but it fixed it.

Ah for the good old days when you had a key operated locking filler cap ! And a key for the boot or a internal boot lever.

thanks, it took me a while but i found it. mercedes 2002 S430. I would add the following: the picture you gave is an extreme close up. it feels like a round pin the size of small measurement, like a mm or two. not sure.but it is easy to pull out. it pulls out quit a lot. it slides out pretty easily. about a quarter of an inch. i hope this helps.

Got the problem solved. Followed instruction on Owners Manual to reach the lock rod in the console at the left side of rear passenger seat. Disconnect the electric supply on that white thing there and turn the black thing on top of it clockwise to retract the lock rod. Reconnect electric supply to operate normally.

Thanks for the video, but for anyone reading this who has a Mercedes B220 (2014), this 'trick' won't work. At least, I was unable to find any such lever or tab to pull anywhere, even after removing padding. Ended up going to my Mercedes dealer, and they fixed it in fifteen minutes while I waited. As far as I can tell, they replaced part of the opening/closing mechanism. When I told the guy behind the counter that I'd watched videos like this one without being able to find such a thing in my car, told me he didn't think there is such a lever/handle/tab from the inside of the trunk on my model. Which sucks if you're at the gas station running low on gas... I think it's weird that this is the case, and for that matter, that these levers are so hidden on the models that *do* have them. Why not have it be a normal, visible button on the inside of the trunk? What harm would that do?

Thanks a lot... My central locking wont let me open my trunk but ill try to lift it via convertible mode and I hope I can reach it... Was away and it happened because nobody went to start my car so the battery was dead. Now I've opened it but cant unlock with key nor buttons.

this happened to me this morning on my 2007 c280. didn't know what to do. so I took it to Mercedes. a guy came out, went into the trunk and did something. we were then able to open the outside lid. however it does close all the way now. the Mercedes rep stated it could be an electronic issue or battery...so they recommend making an appointment....I need it fixed. normally it opens with out issue. 1st time this happened

How do you deal with this problem on 2002 ml500: after fueling, the fuel tank flap won't close because a plastic pin (rod) did not retract and consequently stops the the flap from closing?

fuel tank flap? Are you taking about your fuel door? If you are, try locking your vehicle with your FOB then closing your fuel door. See if it stays closed. If it opens when you unlock your vehicle then you have a glitch in your relay switch which might have to be changed.

I would rank mine as a 9. Almost 100k miles and only a noisy alternator has had to be replaced along with regular maintenance. If you treat the car well it will never let you down, that's how it has been with mine. Compared to the 3-Series and A4, I would buy a C-Class every time I love the car
