This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Merceds-Benz AMG GLA 45 small SUV. The AMG GLA 45 is the most powerful passenger 4-cylinder available today, a true AMG and a true hot-hatch. This utility will make you grin from ear to ear! It has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission, 382 horsepower and 354 lb-feet of torque. It goes 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds. It is the most powerful turbo-charged
4-cylinder available. Some standard features include, a panoramic sunroof, aluminum roof rails, AMG body styling, LED headlamps and taillamps, heated power side mirrors, 19” AMG wheels, 20” and 21” are available. Optional active safety features include, active blind spot assist, lane keep assist, steering assist, vehicle exit warning, active parking assist, enhanced stop and go and emergency stop assist. These are all available on the Advanced driver assistance package for $1,700. This small SUV has a rather rough suspension and still seats o it is for a true enthusiast, the other GLA models are more comfortable for everyday use.That said, this AMG GLA 45 is fantastic when used as it was designed, amazing cornering and flat-out speed. The big question is what makes a true AMG car? Is it just a name or do these Mercedes-Benz model come with enough unique features to justify the AMG badge?

Awesome review! Loved Andrea's reaction on the acceleration test, you are always so positive and bubbly. I get what you are saying Andrea, AMG vehicles are less expensive now because there are more options. I can't afford something like a GLE 53 or 63 but I could afford this GLA 35 or maybe the 45. 👌 you guys nail it every time and so entertaining. Love this channel!

See adjustments on the door are way more practical, passengers can adjust the seats before getting in, drivers can more easily adjust the seats while driving, I have these on my C class and I would hate to go back to ones you can't see to adjust or have to continually bend over to set before getting in.

Back then a decade ago when we bought our first Mercedes, it came with AMG designed wheels and I was super excited because it said AMG on them.

Good times right? The hedonic treadmill is a hell of a things and I miss the days when I got more excited about little things. I guess it’s an age thing too…but FR it’s impossible to feed that “need” for new and exciting when it costs so much to move the mark. I’m looking for a new car for my wife now and I’m struggling to reduce expectations because performance just isn’t as important for her. Not easy in this day and age to learn to just be satisfied.

I thought 2 litre 4 cylinders engine from AMG produces over 420bhp. At least here in UK these A45 AMG hot hatch are very quick especially off the line.

The BMW X3 M40i 1 one or 2 years old (used) with maybe 12k kms on it, is both competitive on price but just as fast if not faster depending on the reviewer. I’ve seen 0-60 times as high as 4.6sec and low as 4.1sec but on average seems to get a reliable 4.4sec. Much more functional and less boy racer. Still, I would love to pick one of these newer revisions up in 4 or 5 years with a steep discount. It will still be just as much fun.

Yes, it's a great engine. The GLA actually has more second row legroom than the GLC. The GLA also offers more second row legroom than the GLB when the 3rd row is in use. The GLB and GLA have the same front row legroom, the GLC has a little bit less. The GLA has the least cargo capacity of the three.

I know the digital dash hasn't been out for that long but I'm just curious if anyone knows, has there been a digitial dash yet that the company changed the look of it to update an existing vehicle to a new asthetic? It seems like a waste to have that ability and not change some looks or offer customers a change if they wanted it like the phones and tablets can have.

Until car manufacturers can offer at least some of the value their phones have for OTA updates at a reliable pace and other improvements, including updates to newer firmware, I don’t think people will be as excited about these after they own the, for a year. Sad to see a 74k CDN car start to have an outdated Ui when it’s clearly avoidable. But they don’t view tech like that and until they do, I’ll always have trust issues with ultra complex systems (as much as I like them)

I find it amusing that the only ones who complain about the AMG brand being overused are the ones who don't mind overpaying for the top model. I own a C43 cabriolet that's $20k less than the C63 and is all wheel drive, but I'm not complaining it's called an AMG. What's next, complaining that the inevitable all-electric AMG is not a "real AMG" because it doesn't have a hand-built engine? Maybe, just maybe, AMG means something more than that.

Its a pity Audi doesn't give Canadian SQ2 and RSQ3, otherwise, they will be direct competitor of this compact AMG SUV. In terms of brand diluting, at least Audi differentiates RS from S instead of lumping everything into AMG as Mercedes does. BMW has divided M Performance and real M cars.

AMG should only be reserved for top performing models. I do not like the diluted name. Mercedes should have two performance brands, AMG for the top vehicles and something new for their mid tier vehicles. Particularly with their electrified vehicles. I appreciate Electric technology in cars, but AMG and Electric do not mix.
