Mercedes Isdera Imperator 108i - Brutal V8 Exhaust Sounds!

During a trackday on the SPA-Francorchamps racetrack I have filmed this very rare Mercedes Isdera Imperator 108i. It's a very rare German super car limited to 30 units (this is unit #14) and built from the Mercedes-Benz CW311 concept. The Imperator 108i featured a rear-view periscope, creating a bulge on the roof!

Candy for my eyes and candy for my ears. In 1985 i heard and saw this car on the German Autobahn A555 ( at the time A55 ) between Bonn and Cologne, and until today i have never seen it again. Many many thanks for uploading! Brings back memories!

I saw a picture of one on the Nurburgring Nordschleife website and wondered what the hell it was! I found out what it was and then found out that they only made 30 of them and then thought that I would have no chance of ever seeing one. Um, I saw one 8 HOURS later in a classic car dealership just 30 miles from my house in the UK!

Sorry Bonsai Dax, but the A555 is since 1974 the A555. Before that year, the A555 had the number A72. The A 55 never existed, but was planned in the 70's as additional "Autobahn" in the Region around Kleve/Krefeld.

​@@duke6321 Hey Duke, the Number A72 till '74 may be correct, but from this point the Autobahn had the Number A55 for some time, and only got later an additional "5", i don't know why. But the designation a55 really existed. I know that because i lived my childhood very near the Autobahn and we drove many times on it. ;-)

​​@@BonsaiDax Then your memories have faded discreetly, because since the time you mentioned, I have been using this very motorway as an almost daily test track for vehicle tests in the event of performance complaints and for chassis tests on vehicles with the star. And it was always the number 555 that was on the signs. This is simply also due to the fact that this highway is only a regional piece of road, which have received all three numbers. In Bonn, the A565 connects as a connection to Meckenheim, also regional and therefore in the triple digits.

1983 isadera imperator was the car the arcade spyhunter mobile was used for back in 83 and if I had one I would custom it out to look like spyhunter mobile and instead of weapons and gadgets coming the headlights and taillights I'd have bass body rockin sound speakers come out voice activated by speaking to the car and saying ignitate protocol soundwave 😁😋

keine Replika, das ist die Weiterentwicklung der Studie CW311 von Eberhard Schulz, die er dann ab 1984 unter dem Firmennamen ISDERA und als Typ "108i imperator" in Kleinserie gebaut wurde. Die Studie CW311 wurde nicht von Mercedes entwickelt, dennoch durfte man damals den Stern benutzen.

WRONG!!! The Isdera Imperator did NOT use the 6 litre V-8 at all!! They had the M117 engine bored to 5.6 litre. It was NOT AMG specified!!! AMG had nothing to do with the Imperator at all. They were built on the design of the C111 concept/experimental cars. The first one had the 4.5 litre M117 V-8 & it almost beat a Countach down a 1/4 mile drag strip!!

It's the formation of the cylinders. for a v8 there are effectively two banks of straight fours joined together by the same crankshaft. Someone else maybe able to explain it better
