@benstacey55082 ай бұрын
@@avreve It is a replica of a racing car which was built during a time period where the current-day safety mechanisms didn't exist. Nobody builds a car like this with the intention of building a car which will be perfectly safe - someone builds a car like this with the intention of building an incredibly fun machine which they're deeply passionate about. Safety does not always come first, but despite this, you can see that the builder has made a great effort to make the car as structurally rigid as possible. If safety is a primary priority for you, a custom, hand-built replica of a car which wasn't safe in the first place, simply isn't for you. The Porsche Carrera GT was known for being an extremely dangerous car, and you have a digital one as your profile picture! It is a terrible shame that you watched this video - a video showing passion, commitment, unbelievably hard work and immense skill, along with a dream coming true - and your first thought was to attempt to detract from what the car is built to be. By extension, you essentially attempted to detract from the builder's dream of creating, owning and driving this car. It's much easier to criticise other people's actions and dreams than it is to achieve your own dreams - get out there and do what you need to do rather than worrying too much about what other people are doing!

I went to school for mechanical engineering science while I was in the Marine Corps, and got my ASE certs after getting out. From both a mechanical engineering perspective, as well as an automotive technical standpoint this is beyond impressive. Building a go-cart from scratch is fun, and only mildly difficult depending on your suspension, drivetrain, steering system, etc. However the mechanical strain and allowable tolerances increases exponentially as the size of the vehicle increases. The planning, dedication, and work that went into this is absolutely an outstanding achievement.

I love the effort and passion put forth to these projects. It doesn’t matter how good or bad something comes out at the end result it’s the fact that someone wants to create something. Even these videos of these guys in Vietnam re-creating a Bugatti Veyron that runs on a bicycle chain in itself is impressive. It’s all about building something and being creative.
