Excellent job Graham. So interesting to see you work on non radio electronics.

Thanks David. I do get some strange stuff to work on from the locals

Great job that Graham. Conformal coating, thick circuit boards with big ground and power planes, and surface mount components aren't the easiest combination to deal with. That soldering you've done looks spot on. Hope it all works for you when you try it out.

Thanks Ged. This was just a little video I shot with my phone. It worked great when the customer put it back in

How much would you charge for a repair job like that thanks
@jayescalade7657Ай бұрын
Sir. Great video, but can you make a video showing the outcome. Also, a video where you are working on the board would also be nice.

Crikey Graham. This is a bit of a step up from the Roberts. 😂 Thanks for sharing.

omg, i have a burnt out BCM at home... I would love to learn and how to repair my and where can I get the electronics from and tools i need to help me to get it fixed.

Did you solder in the ceramic capacitors? On the ...1045 version I thought they were removed by Mercedes? Compared with the ...0945 unit. Not sure, may be another place on the board where I am talking about.
@Radiocruncher7 ай бұрын
I did see a picture of a later board where the were no ceramics. Maybe they altered something else to enable them to be removed

The two large posts are both +12v. One is to the front battery and the other to the rear battery.

Thanks. I didn't really pay much attention when it was going back in the car

hi mate ive emailed you about a bcm just want to know the capacitors you used, the 3 on the bit of board you replaced ? i cant hear any info on them in the other video, thanks
@Radiocruncher2 ай бұрын
Hi. I'm not currently taking in any more repairs. I have some information on what the caps were although some were a guess as they had burnt out
@chrisvickers55527 ай бұрын
Are you going to offer a repair service if so am interested.
@Radiocruncher7 ай бұрын
I have repaired a couple but I wouldn't attempt one in this condition again

Where are you located and what’s the charge for this service?
@Radiocruncher7 ай бұрын
I'm in North Devon. Cost would depend on what's needed

Radiocruncher, I also need to have my BCM rebuilt. 2003 - 500sl. Can you please assist? Do you offer this service? If not, do you know of anyone that can help me? Thank you kindly.

The Mercedes R230 SL forums for the BCM issue require your presence and service Sir. Please post your capabilities and you will be rewarded with lucrative business.

I am not sure i understand why cars need such a complex device to momiter a battery. Older cars managed it without the electronics.
@Radiocruncher7 ай бұрын
Way too complex and not a chance if getting a schematic
@GNXClone7 ай бұрын
It’s Mercedes’ over engineering. Some people have removed this and replaced with a generic dual battery isolator used in RVs and boats.
