Mercedes SL350 R230 Electrical drain test and Battery tester

In this video I confirm in a different way if the rear battery in our 2005 Mercedes SL350 R230 is suffering from a drain and we test both batteries using a proper tester from Topdon who very kindly sponsored this video.

Thanks, battery tester is worth the money given the price of batteries (especially the one in the trunk!). Yeah my garage floor is bare cement, gets dust in the car every time. Project for next summer is to re floor with something, maybe swiss trax. 👍

Just had a thought, how are your headlights, yellow, UV damage yet? I'm preparing to purchase my SL so thought I'd try the 3M lens restoration kit on my old Honda 2005 first, no words, incredible results, they're now like new and were quite damaged and blurred. Took some effort but as they say, no pain, no gain! Finished with some ebay H9 ceramic for UV protection, might go for a few coats, dont suppose it's much cop 🤣. Could make an interesting vid?

I have the SL55 AMG 2006. I looked behind the drivers seat under the storage compartment and found none mercedes benz wires and copious amounts of it. I disconnected some and took out a cobra alarm 0866 and another box labellbed e1 024302 which might have been the battery as no other markings are on it and it is insulated.

My car has parasitic battery drain and I installed a bluetooth Antigravity battery monitor. The App can connect to 2 batteries which is useful for SLs which has 2 batteries.

I think going to 2500 RPM for the front battery charge test was pointless - it's charged off the BCM, not the alternator.

Wa 75k miles mine is a 04 with 25k miles , do you think I should have a lot of problems driving 5k pr year ? This car scares me as much as I love it . Thanks !!

No need to be scared! Look after it and it will look after you! They do need more TLC than other models but keep driving it and it will thank you in the long run.
