I am Mexican, but one of my favorite singers is the Argentinean Mercedes Sosa, who has a beautiful and powerful voice. She is very loved throughout Latin America for her fight for the less fortunate. This beautiful song, Gracias a la vida, is by another great American singer, in this case from Chile, Violeta Parra. What a pleasure that you are turning to that part of the world that sometimes seems that for Europe does not exist, but that has great exponents in music in particular and in culture in general. Countries such as my Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, the small but enormous Cuba, which musically is a giant, etc. I hope they react to the great singers of these beloved countries.

" Thanks to Life " (lyrics in English) Thanks to life, which has given me so much. It gave me two stars, that when I open them, I can perfectly distinguish black from white, and in the sky above, its starry backdrop, and from within the multitude The one that I love. Thanks to life, which has given me so much. It gave me an ear that, in all of its width, records- night and day-crickets and canaries, hammers, turbines, barks, storms, And the tender voice of my beloved. Thanks to life, which has given me so much. It gave me sound and the alphabet. With them the words that I think and declare: "Mother," "Friend," "Brother" and the light shining, The route of the soul of the one I'm loving. Thanks to life, which has given me so much. It gave me the steps of my tired feet, with them I have traversed cities and puddles, Valleys and deserts, mountains and plains, And your house, your street and your patio. Thanks to life, which has given me so much. It gave me a heart, that shakes its frame , When I see the fruit of the human brain, when I see the good one so far from the evil one, When I see within the clarity of your eyes. Thanks to life, which has given me so much. It gave me laughter and it gave me tears, with them I distinguish happiness and pain- the two materials that make up my song, And your song, as well, which is the same song. And everyone's song, which is my very song. Thanks to life, Thanks to life, Thanks to life, Thanks to life 🙏🏻

Mercedes Sosa lived a very tough era, in very agitated times in South America. The song is about been Grateful to Life for many reasons. Pure poetry! There were many Trovadores like here speaking protest through music in the '70s, I was just a kid but my older brother was in his teens, 15 or 16. Mercedes Sosa made music with Lila Downs in her late days.

Mercedes Sosa performance in Lugano, Switzerland: "Musically" acoustic from the year 1980, accompanied on guitar by "Nicolas Colacho Brizuela": She had not returned to Argentina YET: They were her last years of exile. VERY DIFFICULT YEARS for her life, as she said, but her voice in those days was at its fullest. She is considered the South American Ella Fitzgerald

Thanks to life that has given so much It has given to me the heart that shakes his frame When I see the fruit of the human brain When I se the good one so far away of the bad one When I see the background of your clear eyes Thanks to life that has given so much It has given me the laugh and it has given me crying So I can distinguish between bliss and shattering The two materials that create my singing And your singing that is the same singing And the sing of everyone is my own sing. Thanks to life that has given so much. Hello! They have chosen a beautiful song by the Chilean Violeta Parra beautifully sung by the great Mercedes Sosa, "la Negra", "La Voz de América Latina" unfortunately deceased🌹. A great singer, internationally known Argentinian pride that began with our folklore but also ventured into rock, ballad, pop, tango with great national and international artists. Everyone wanted to sing with her. Winner of 6 Latin Grammys. Thank you for listening (there is much more to discover of course. The song Alfonsina y el Mar y Canción de las Simples Cosas -the one that Mercedes mentioned in the video when she finished singing and that she would then sing - are a great option among many) Great reaction! You have to meet our great singer-songwriter and performer, very dear Abel Pintos, and also Luciano Pereyra. They will love them. Greetings🙋🏼♀️🇦🇷❤️

Mercedes Sosa was a great artist, she has many songs another song Todo Cambia which always touches my heart. She was known in Argentina and all Latin America as La Negra ("the dark one"- as an endearment guess due to her indigenous heritage). A much beloved and esteemed artist. Try Elis Regina a Brazilian artist "Aguas di Março" a beautiful song and "Como nossos Pais" - a protest song about a turbulent political time period, in this case in Brazil but also in Argentina and Chile. The song title translates to As Our Parents. Another other beautiful song is "O bêbado e a equilibrista".

I would like it to be taken into account that for some reason, in this version of "Thanks to Life" performed by Mercedes Sosa, she does not sing the second verse that belongs to the original version: 👇🏼 "Thanks to life, which has given me so much. Glad to see you getting into Latin music. I recommend that you have a look at the Spanish singer Diana Navarro - El Perdón (with English subtitles) I guarantee it will move you emotionally. A powerful video and lyrics. See if you can see what happens just after the 1 minute mark. What I enjoy about Spanish music is that you don't need to understand the words for it to have an effect on you. The way they express themselves through their music can at times reach into you and move you, even though you can't understand the language. I love Spanish flamenco music and its many different forms and influences on modern Spanish music.
