Hello, Lilly and Thilo ;). Love you quick conversion. I must admit I had my doubts when I saw all that bare wood. It looked like a sauna. But hey, the staining gave it an amazing look. Really an awesome job. I subscribed to your newsletter straight away and will follow you for sure. Please keep uploading videos to KZbin. Any ideas what the next adventure will be? Take care and have fun!

You did an amazing and beautiful job with your build! However, I would have put the tap closer to the door so you could use it for the shower! It is still amazing! Enjoy your journey!

Thks!! The hose is long enough to have a shower outside (2m). But anyway we are never using it as we are using our solar shower.

Just some editing advice, don't put a background music, or put it a little lower, because is a little hard to understand what you are saying plus the noise plus the music, but overall great video and van! Cobgratulations

Really nice looking conversion. Love the wood finish. Great technique, not seen it used any where else yet. Should the gas bottle not be in a sealed box with floor vent though? You may want to get a monitor for carbon monoxide and gas?
@vanderlust13837 жыл бұрын
dibley1973 thanks! The gas bottle is now in a sealed box, no worries. And of course we have a co detector. Those are important requirements for safety, thanks for noticing it.
@stevenreynolds25806 жыл бұрын
also needs external bottom vent, as well as bottle needs securing to box, full details on www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/522756/converting-a-vehicle-into-a-motorhome.pdf

I just wanted to start by saying how much I enjoy watching your videos. I also wanted to ask you “Have you had any leaks with your roof vent?” I’m about to cut through my new roof and want to understand how realistic I should be about a leak free experience. Cheers, Andrew
@vanderlust13836 жыл бұрын
Andrew Peel Hi Andrew! No leaks so far... After 6months. We used a lot of sikaflex to avoid leaks. We hope it will go ok for you. Quite impressive to cut a hole in the roof!

Love you have reversed the layout compared to most people, not having the bed in the back (guessing it has something to do with how much dirty storage you need, also referred to as the garage) - anyway it gives a very roomy feel to it. I was wondering why you choose not to open the cabin towards the drivers area. Don't no the cons of it, but it's few vans I have seen keeping it closed off? Anyway good luck on your life ahead, will keep an eye out here on KZbin (nice simple editing of this video, so keep It up)
@vanderlust13837 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! Keeping the divider was a hard choice and we had some doubts until the end. But we wanted to have a clear separation between the living area and the driving area in order to not feel like we were living in a van. Also it is better for insulation...which was helpful in Norway! And finally, people can't see in the van from the front window: more privacy.
@willbradley78746 жыл бұрын
After living in a van for over a year in the canadian winters I've considered adding a partitioned wall from the cab and living area to reduce condensation and heat loss through the front windows... great set up! thanks.

A really nice result at the end! well done! I am wondering how long it took you to do the conversion and would you have an estimation of the cost? Myself and my partner will be starting the process very soon :) I look forward to more of your videos and seeing where your van takes you!
@vanderlust13837 жыл бұрын
It took us 3months, working weekends only. Regarding the cost, it really depends on your van. But for the conversion itself, allow 5 to 8k.

Love the finish on the wood cladding. Makes it look like a weathered barn...beautiful. Looks like you could have gone larger with the sink...why so small? How are you going to wash a large pot or pan? If it was a counter space issue, you could have covered the sink with a cutting board or something. Subbed and liked. Looking forward to future videos.
@vanderlust13837 жыл бұрын
For the little story, we ordered 3sinks of different sizes and this one was the one we prefered! It is big enough for our dishes, no problem so far (including pots and pans). We thought about covering it with a cutting board but since we are using the sink so often, it was really not practical. No regrets on this one! :)

Refletix is not a good insulation product and might trap moisture. You've destroyed the van.
@StacyForest7386 жыл бұрын
Why do you think they used Refletix, they used foam. And it looks like a great conversion! Love the layout!
@leoinswlondon6 жыл бұрын
Foam to fill up the holes and Refletix on top. Refletix is not a good insulation and trap moisture. Even Foam destroys the panel of the van and is nasty. Do your research! Bob Wells has over 20 years experience in this topic. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4vUcn2Zh82ZnNE

Leo Crow thanks all for this debate, always good to exchange on the subject. Most of the van conversions are using reflectix, and if it is that bad, that would be useful to write a quality article about it to help the future van lifers? When converting your own van, you can't do everything perfect. But at least we did something, and now we are living our dream. So to be honest, reflectix or not, this is not our main concern. :)
