So on my vindecoder it says I have keyless start 893 however I don't have the button for it. I was told by a Mercedes independent guy to buy the button and it'll work, is that so? Secondly it doesn't mention keyless entry but mercedes dealership said I have the silver handles with the keyless entry button/sensor so it should work. Any thoughts?

I think the Mercedes guy is right. Plus you checked the vindecoder. All I did was check my VIN number then ordered the start button. So convenient not having to take my keys out of my pocket! I listed the button I bought in the description. Regarding your keyless entry… don’t your doors automatically unlock when you grab the handle? It does for me when I have my key in my pocket. The button has to be compatible with your Mercedes. My video explains the start button for a W205 chassis. An online search says W205 is between 2014 and 2021 models. This is my first Mercedes and it was missing the button when I got it. But I ordered the start button from Amazon so I could return it in case it didn’t work. The button really isn’t anything other than a piece of plastic.

You’ll have to check and see if your Mercedes is equipped to use a start button. You can check with your VIN number on one of the websites I show in the video. Mine has the start button feature but the button was missing since it was a used car. Someone probably took the button before they sold it to me.

If your C400 has the capability to use push button start then all you have to do is insert the button and it will work. Mine didn’t involve any programming. The key fob does have to be inside the vehicle but that’s it. Just press on the brake then push the start button to start the car. Hope this helps!

I did some more searching to find an answer to your question. It seems that the button will work with Keyless Start. Keyless Go is just a more advanced version of Keyless Start. So with either of the options you will be able to use the start button. Does the button use a battery? My Mercedes tells me to replace key fob battery when I use the button start. I have replaced the battery in the actual key fob twice thinking maybe the battery I first replaced was bad. If I use the key fob to crank the Mercedes the screen does not tell me key fob battery needs to be replaced.

This button does not use a battery. It’s really just a piece of plastic. But to start the car with the button you do need working batteries in the actual key fob. Do you have a 2nd key fob to test whether there’s an issue with your 1st key fob? Do the remote functions work on your key fob? Such as locking and unlocking the doors?

This start button does not have a battery in it. It’s just a piece of plastic with a silver disk. All it does is push something inside the key receptacle. But the key fob does have to be with you in order for it to work. As mentioned in the video my car is a 2015 W205 C300. Not sure this works in older models.

I think for a 2015 C200 Keyless Go was definitely an option. However you’d have to check on the actual options that were installed on the car. Use one of the websites shown at 1:55 in the video and enter your VIN number to see if your C200 has that option. Hope this helps!

There’s a link in the description of the exact start button I bought for my car. However check your VIN number on one of the websites in the video to see if your Mercedes is equipped to use a start button. There’s no need to program it. If your car has the Keyless Go option then all you do is put the button in the slot and it will work. Hope this helps!

I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think they had Keyless Go on that model. But I’m not an expert on C300s. Yours is older and W212 vs W205. I think your key looks the same but maybe you can ask at a Mercedes dealership since they’d know best.

2015 C300 is what I own and what I used in the video. You can see me start my car with the key at 0:58 in the video. The plastic end of the key fob is the key. You don’t use the metal key for the ignition. It’s only for opening the car door if your battery is dead. Hope this helps!

It might work if you only have one of the keyless options on your car. But there’s no way to know except to put the start button in your car and try it. Or maybe ask a Mercedes dealership if they can confirm your car will work with the button. Hope this helps!

When u take out the button and use the key to start the car do u immediatly turn the key the whole way or turn it 3/4 of the way wait a few seconds then turn it the final notch allowing the diesel to heat like the older diesel cars ? Tia.

On my C300 I insert the key and turn it just like a regular car. Mine uses premium fuel and I just turn the ignition and it starts. No need for warm up.

It wont unless you press it again while driving. The Button itself is just plastic and has no electronics inside. It simply has a magnet telling the computer that a key is presend and that the car should search for the key inside the cabin to be able to start. This happens extremely fast and often the car knows that the keys are present before you even pressed the Button. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your question! If you only have 893 your Mercedes has the ability to use the start button! That option alone gives you keyless start. The 889 Keyless Go is an upgrade which adds the ability to unlock the doors without using the key fob. As long as you have one of those options you can use a start button. Hope this helps! I assume your car starts by turning the key? If yes then make sure you press the brake pedal before pressing the start button. The key has to be in the car. If that’s not working you may have a weak battery in the key fob. The car needs to sense that the key is in the car before you can start it with the button. Hopefully this helps!

Not sure if this start button works on the W204. However you do need to have the Keyless Go option on your Benz for it to work. In the description you can find the exact part I bought. Then from the seller’s description you can see if it will work with your model.

Yes! If you have Keyless Start this start button will work for you. I read that Keyless Start is standard on all recent models. But Keyless Go is an upgrade option for the unlocking of doors without using the key. All you need is Keyless Start and you can use the start button shown in the video. There is no coding involved. Just insert the button and it’s ready for use!

Hey! I’m not fooling anyone! That’s what I paid for this Mercedes start button on Amazon. I’m definitely not going to buy parts from Mercedes if I don’t have to. Actually the start button did come preinstalled in Mercedes vehicles with Keyless Start. I bought this C300 used and the previous owner(s) probably lost the button. Hope this helps!
