MERCEDES W108 M130 VALVE ADJUSMENT AND CAM COVER CLEANING.

Adjusting the valves on the M130 engine should be done every 12k miles. I'm a little past due at 15k. Along with this I took the opportunity to clean the cam cover. I was interrupted part way through due to a Fire in the area. Advice #1 Don't do this service if you need your car as a getaway vehicle:) This procedure is very similar to other engines. m127, m117, m116, m100. etc.

Would like to have heard the engine running when you finished …….. can you hear a difference when you have finished? I remember my dad teaching me how to do this in the late 70’s on a Peugeot 304 1.6 diesel …… it used shims to adjust the clearance. It was a tricky little job to do. We had the misfortune of dropping a small bolt down into the engine and spent a whole night stripping down the front of the engine to retrieve the bolt 😀

Hi!, we know all about fires here in Australia but we also have really big floods and I lost everything last march when 2 meters of water through my place. I left a reply over on my little channel about the blue spray. I'm also trying to track down a pair of M117 mount arms for a W108 .Part numbers are A116 223 1204 and A116 223 1304. cash waiting...ha ha.

Hi Ron. I took a look today. Sorry no mount arms. The guy who gave it to me stripped some stuff off before. I do have some pistons, connecting rods and misc other stuff. Also heads etc. Cams have some surface rust but could be possibly saved. Cheers John 🍻

I always either remove, or disconnect, the fuel pump relay when doing this type of work, so as to prevent gas accumulating in the cylinders when flicking the engine over.

this might not be the perfect place to ask and i did comment on your older video but how did you remove the whole wooden dash stretching from the driver side all the way to the glove compartment? thanks

No problem. It is a lot of work to get the dash wood out. Firstly gauge cluster has to come out, then heater controls, radio, vents, misc switches and the Ac unit lowered to get to screws on the lower edge. Its something I will be doing again in the future as the 6.3 dash needs refinishing. I will shoot a video of that. Stay tuned:) All the best Cheers John.
