Shit just got real - I just spoke for the first time on youtube. Can't stand the sound of my own voice hence having never done before today. Couldn't be bothered typing out what i was doing after, so tried this out, hope you enjoy.

Thanks to everyone for positive feedback, i will where possible continue to narrate on my own cars. Next weekend I am installing new fuel pumps and putting the old noisy ones on the red car. I will take it for a test drive around the hood.

MMWA l have problem. With my 300ce when is worm, little problem to start but works perfect till worn. Then he start to have problems like plug cable, or plug...or something electric, did you think my camshaft sensor is bad...tnx

Great video and good narrative. I do also hate all the stuff that MB placed under the intake manifolds of this era, specially vacuum lines and vacuum connectors.

An excellent video ! Very clear camera and regardless of what you think of your voice, you actually sound nice with that ultra cool accent... you might consider naming the tool sizes you use in future videos. Such as what size socket did you use to remove the crank sensor in this video? Your camera is superb, and you are precise and concise ! Good job !

Great video! I have a 1991 Mercedes 300E W124 M103 with the Crankshaft Sensor in the same position - I need to replace the sensor and took a look at it today. I think turning the bolt to remove it would be okay. Not so sure how easy it would be remove the sensor and install the replacement. Do you have any tips for that please? Were you able to get your hand into that spot to install? I would very much appreciate your advice. Many thanks

I think it would be easier to access from the bottom, by removing the starter.

Good video great idea to re route the wiring it surely does not make any sense to remove the intake manifold just to replace a crank sensor.

Hi there, Very nice video but still the question remains how do you know that your car has issues with the crank sensors how to test them and make sure you have a working ones or faulty ones....thanks in advance and my car is e 320 1994.

the engine wont run at all with a totally dead crank sensor. The more common fault is they intermittently stop working on a hot engine. There are fault codes to show the missing crank sensor signal on most cars. I replaced this one as the connector was lose and about to break.

Hello brother , Iam changing this sensor and im having way to much trouble removing it.I use different lubrificant for rust and oil too .I removed the bold but the sensor took me 2 days and still wont come out .Any tips to remove it . Best regards .

Lorik Arifi I’ve never had this problem before - unfortunately it’s in a difficult place to begin with and it being seized in the hole makes an already unpleasant job a complete nightmare. If it absolutely wont come out you may have to remove the intake manifold to get more room down there - this is a nightmare in itself, I think I would remove the whole engine and transmission so you can have easy access to it. Hopefully it does not come to this.

this was one of the first jobs i did in my car(also a 300e-24) last year, i did it by under the car and it was alot easier than i thought. you cant see it from under there but once you feel where is the allen screw thats pretty easy

I may have a go next time i have the bottom engine bay cover off at routing it correctly. Problem is all the under manifold plastic clips just broke to pieces when i tried to remove them anyway, so I will need new ones too.

So would you say it is easier to get your hands on the sensor from the underside of the vehicle? My concern is being able to access the sensor and pull off with my hand. Looks like the Oil Filter is restricting access for me. Would love to hear from you. Thank you in advance.

6SPD V10 yes some people do cut the wire and it comes out easier.

saad Algamdi this was still working but I noticed the end connection was loose and about to break off. Before it left me stranded I changed it early.

@@MMWA-DAVE how did you get your hand in that tight spot to screw it in? I have a 1991 300 ce and I can’t even see the bolt. I have to replace crank sensor as soon as the part is delivered

@@derrickdjdirtydmega9554 it was a long time and i can’t remember specifics. I would have used a long hex key most likely after feeling in there blind if its that tight. If this is the case you will want to make sure the tool fits very tightly into the screw with tissue paper for example so you dont drop it when reinstalling.

I am having a no start issue. I'm thinking it the CPS because there is no spark and, the ignition coil is pretty new and the EZL was rebuilt not too long ago. I tried swapping ignition coil and distributor cap to no avail. I'm getting me led diagnostic tool later today to check for a CPS code but would that cause a random no start? It was working fine until I drove it to work and it worked during my lunch break then it didn't restart when I was leaving work. It gets fuel just has no spark. I'm thinking that its a CPS because it is the original CPS and everything else has been replaced

Is this the same engine in your car, and you have the 8 pin socket style ezl? if you have the 4 pin version I don't believe they have diagnostic flash codes. when an EZL fails in the most common way you will still get a tachometer output but it wont operate the ignition coil. It is a VERY easy test with a scope. I'm not a great believer in "rebuilt" ezls, as I believe that they aren't made in a manner that is conducive to any kind of long term successful repair. Yes it can definitely be a failed crank position sensor too, when they fail the the ezl wont know when to fire the coil.

@@MMWA-DAVE oh yes I have the m104.98x it's the 981 which is the EGR version. It has the 8 pin socket. I have concerns with the rebuilt one but at the same time. The rebuilt one did solve a problem I had in the past because I have a 722.5 transmission which has the electronically operated overdrive 5th gear which didn't go into gear back then but the rebuilt one rectified the issue. The EZL might be under warranty but I'd have called the place that rebuilt it. I just wanna test it to see if it works or not. What's the easy way to test?

Noblesse Oblige ZERO the round diagnostic socket near the EZL has the coil switched negative test point and the tachometer output and a ground. Everything you need is at that socket to test if the EZL is working. You would need to have a scope to see the square wave tach output and i would also have the switched negative on channel 2. I guess i can make a video after work if I have time. I will see what the readings are on a regular multi meter too. If you have a multi meter with duty cycle reading it should also produce a reading on the tach output too. (All while cranking obviously)

@@MMWA-DAVE I used the code flash on number 8 for my car and it pulled a code 17 which is a crank sensor. I ordered one and I'm going to try it. Hopefully, it isn't the EZL.

I have the exact same engine in my 300TE-24, and I have been experiencing an issue which you seem to have solved. Previously your engine would have taken about 1sec running the starter but in the latter movie your engine starts just right up like in less than 0.2sec. Mine takes 1-2sec of starter run before it fires up and I wonder what you have changed/done to your engine to start like that.
