Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to replace or remove Ignition Coil on Mercedes W163 ML Class from 1998 to 2005. We demonstrated how to replace ignition coil on a 2001 Mercedes ML320. If you have a code such us P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356 , P0357, P0358. The last digits corresponds to the cylinder number. It is very likely that you have a bad ignition coil or bad wire that goes to the ignition coil

I have a problem with my 2002 ml500. It just does not crank and start but when turned the key on position all the dash lights were on. What could it be? It happened after I pinched the purple wire while replacing the motor mount.

You forgot to mention that these coils come with two (at least) different connectors. Some have 'wide' metal pins and the others have 'narrow' pins. If you get a wide one, just dremel it out while cursing in German. There's probably no difference between the coils except for the pins (to mess with MB customers and make sure that they can't ever DIY and must keep paying maximum parts price.)

Well you did show how to take one off and put another one on but you picked the easy one. How about doing a video of the back side on the passenger side and show us how you wiggle around and what extension do you have to use to make it work because I have a feeling the back window on the passenger side is not going to be the same as the one you did as far as easy.

Ml320 won't start it makes a clicking noise replaced the starter checked battery it cool was going to check alternated don't know what else it could be

I can’t get the spark plug wires off of the coil. Do you have any tips for extremely stuck coils?

I've been a used car dealer for 33 years. These Benz plug wires are an absolute BITCH to remove from the coil or the plug. Try a spray lubricant inside the boot of the coil wire and shake it from side to side. Be patient ! The Benz dealers just cut the wires and put new ones on. Many others are in the same situation as you. Pain in the ass. Good video nonetheless. Very helpful money saver.

There is a classic 17mm open end wrench that is shaped to remove the boot.

I got some junkyad coils and the pins in them were wider than the ones in the '02 I was working on. super maddening. I ground them down with a dremel tool so they could plug in. They work fine. Why change the connector? Bosch has proven they can update the parts over the years and manage the systems without such silly games. never get a german car.

on some320ml `s torx bits it takes a t-27 and guess on this one it takes a t-30.

I replaced head gaskets without removing air filter box. No need to remove that.

How do you know if the ignition cool is bad

Take off the plastic cover over the engine. Start the engine. Take out one in a time Electric plug on eatch coil.If the rpm drop a little the coil is good. If the engine not drop in rpm the coil is bad.

2001 Mercedes ml430 turns on fine, then about 15min. Later it shuts off, then won't turn over, then about an hour later it turns on and repeats the same sequence. Any possible solution to problem???

You should replace the crank position sensor. The sensor will get hot and cutoff then cool down and work again til it gets hot.

Good morning Can you help with this matter on our MB ML320 1998? Please advise MB of Puerto Rico tells us that metal blade key are not available. They are suggesting we change the whole ignition and computer system at a cost of over $4,000 on a vehicle that is worth half of that. We had a metal blade key ( what they call Mickey mouse) since it does not have the beeper portion and it got de-synchronized somehow. Please advise what i can do. This is our daughters car to move around in College and it is difficult to spend $4k or by another car. Typically this metal blade key costless than $100 all included. I can forward you the licence info to help us get one of this metal blade key As instructed by our Mercedes mechanic ( witch is authorized / certified by MB to do all this) he is requesting a replacement ( not a new one) metal key for the #4 key on this vehicle. He will program it as it is required,
