🤔You should always adjust the rear brake shoes first, to do this you must remove the rear wheels. After the shoes are adjusted you should check the travel on the parking brake pedal, if the travel is excessive then you can take out some of the slack on the cable under the seat, do not adjust the cable too much, and make sure you still have a tiny bit of slack on the cable. I have never seen a W203 rear seat taken out with a crowbar, there are 4 nuts at the front of the rear seat, 2 either side which are under plastic covers, remove the nuts first and then pull the seat forwards and upwards to clear the nut brackets and then the seat will come out easily. Hope this helps in the future.🙄

My brake pedal has to be lifted with my foot to stop the alarm..I hold it up with a bungee would love to know how to fix please

Sounds like something is broken, so you need to have a look and see why it’s doing that, difficult to say or give you advice from the distance. Also I maybe work on a brake pedal once every 3 years, it’s very rare that they fail.

There are 4 bolts towards the front of the seat, u were supposed to undo them to remove the seat.

true that.

Hi, I have a w204 2009 and I removed the backbench but there doesn’t seem to be any mechanism in there. I assume it might be underneath the car?
@DaringBeefcake2 жыл бұрын
I think this model w204 needs to be adjusted at the brake hub in the real wheels….
@TheYoungWarlock2 жыл бұрын
DaringBeefcake you can adjust at the hub but there seems to be a lose cable somewhere because I would press down the handbrake pedal and when I release it the pedal doesn’t come back all the way up. I also tried to adjust it from the wheel on both side now up to the point where when I drive I can hear the handbrake shoes rubbing onto the disk, yet even with the handbrake pedal fully down, the car still rolls and drives as if the handbrake isn’t even there

@@TheYoungWarlock I see, well may be worth checking the actual brake pedal as I have had some where the mechanism fails and as far as I remember there is a spring that either snaps or comes off so the pedal doesn't return i had this issue mainly with the w203 but its a very similar arrangement, so worth having a look, its a bit awkward though , as you need to bend in strange ways lol..

DaringBeefcake thanks for that. I just checked it and the pedal returns but just not to the end. One of the cables seems to be lose because like I said on my previous comment, when the pedal is fully down the car still drives with no handbrake effecting it

Only thing is how do you know you haven't adjusted it to far and engaged the hand brake shoes? Unless rear of car is jacked up no way of testing if you have over adjusted
@DaringBeefcake2 жыл бұрын
Because your hand brake won’t have any movement and it’s supposed to have at least 5 clicks or so.

Hi, what was the problem before you fixed it?
@DaringBeefcake3 жыл бұрын
Yes I had to push the foot brake a bit to much in to operate properly, eventually will need the rear foot brakes replaced.
