these are the best videos. serious attention to detail. i love them. I've been watching videos from these guys for the last 3 hours about cars that I've never even owned but the videos are that well put together. Lol. Serious though. great instructional videos that i am sure ease many minds about some particular tasks concerning their cars.

Thanks guys; I notice you swoped one of the spring clamps around without showing that step specifically in the video. What was the reason for that ? Using the specific spring compressor tool that you used, do you in retrospect feel it was fit for purpose or does a significant risk remain? What are the likely (safety) things that could go wrong when using this specific spring compressor ?

Do you have to take of the battery heads before changing the shock absorbers.? I am asking because i just changed my front shock absorbers of my 2008 C300 last week. A day after I start having ABS issues. My car suddenly stalls on motion and I get “ABS EPS inoperative” notification on my dashboard

Hi, I am about to do this job on my Mercedes. Looks straightforward using your video for a guide. My problem is I don't have the special socket "5581 Strut Nut Socket" to remove the nut. Do you think it is possible to make DIY one with an old socket and an angle grinder. With Christmas so close delivery times are so bad.

Kudos for the Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Patlarny Vehicle History Principle (google it)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for discovering how to repair your car the simple way minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work colleague after a lifetime of fighting got cool success with it.

You can't really compare an 18" wheel to another 17" wheel :) the smaller one will almost always be the lighter one. It is called unsprung weight. But I get it. Benz does a good job with selecting their rims from subcompanies that manufacture them for the brand. Some rims are just crazy lightweight that it makes almost zero sense to buy aftermarket ones for a Benz unless you are willing to pay high money for super lightweight rims. But then again you have to be carefull where to park that car (thieves). BMW on the other hand has it similar but not that much. Some 17" BMW rims can weight about 10Kg top while others can go up to 13Kg no problem. If you raise the size to 18" it gets really crazy. And it seems like BMW doesn't really care that much. On the other hand there are loads of brands producing lightweight rims for BMW like APEX and they are not that expensive. Not cheap not medium but not expensive. For example: take the E46 M3 and put it next to a W212 350CGI with proper light Benz wheels and you will outrun the M3. The M3 is the pinnacle of the 3er series from that era while the 350CGI is "just" the last regular model with a standard V6 engine. It then goes up to a "regular" V8 and then the not so regular AMG models. How do I know? We got one 350CGI and tried it on the highway against one M3 :D
