Thanks for the video...I worked for Mercedes years ago.. the orignial Mercedes ATF is packaged by Fuchs It's the same 4134 ATF just a different packaging ..Fuchs company is the OE fill for all the German cars and it's the biggest lubricant company in Germany.... using their oil is a good way to save money.

@mohamedazkoul9544 yes I'm now always trying to use the best fluid, also got Fuchs fluid for my newly acquired E250 wagon 👌

Forgot to mention the little 7 bolt that holds the plug sleeve in. Took me an hour to figure out and you must have a deep 7mm socket to get it to engage, pain in the ass
@LueysGarage Жыл бұрын
Yep true I had already done it so didn't say much about that in the video. 7mm socket with some paper towel stuffed into the socket works well. Just make sure the connector sleeve is seated all the way into the socket, takes quite a bit of force to push it in with the new seals.

Thank you ! I've got all the stuff for my 99' E55 just forgot the pan bolts so this weekend. That fluid looked REALLY clean haha when you drained which is great! So many of my benz' i've bought have been literally all black - with the original factory filter in them :(

There's a bit of a story behind that...I actually filled it up with cheap fluid and found it wasn't behaving. The fluid apparently was to 236.14 spec but not MB approved...luckily I decided to change it within a few KM of driving and the trans is happy as now :-) I guess it served as a bit of a flush and taught me to be really careful what fluid to use! Pan bolts you probably don't need to change, I just re-used mine

@@LueysGarage Hey thanks for the reply - OK great thats good to know. I use Liqui Moli Top Tec 1800 in all my mercs and its worked great - good to know though about cheap fluid still saying 236.14 and not actually working.. And thanks - in that case then i'll just re-use them if you have too - good to know!

So did the fluid from the torque converter drain as well? I know on some models there’s a drain plug on the torque converter, some say you also must use a trans fluid pump if there’s no drain plug what do you say?
@LueysGarage Жыл бұрын
I didn't drain the torque converter, I don't think mine had the drain for that. I just left it draining overnight and got about 8-9l out which is quite a bit and enough to refresh most of the fluid. That's the key just try and replace as much old fluid as possible. That will always be better than just having 100% old fluid

Actually there is drain plug from converter, there's video's on yt for w210

Thanks for the video! One comment though, I'm pretty sure the 722.6 always uses a 5mm Allen / Hex and never a 30 torx for the drain plug. Of course I do not know everything for every MB car that uses the 722.6, so I suggest before sticking the 30 torx in to REALLY TAKE A GOOD LOOK if it's not a 5mm Allen / Hex. This is how I stripped mine and I can tell you I learned a lot that day :D :P
@LueysGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely double check it's the right tool, mine was definitely a torx. Thanks!

Did your pan have a magnet in it? If so where, also I see other with overflow pipe in pan mine did not have that. It's a 2000 E55
@LueysGarage Жыл бұрын
No magnet in mine, no overflow pipe. There shouldn't be an overflow pipe for the 722.6 transmission... you might be looking at videos of the 722.9?
@khalidabdu83783 жыл бұрын
man the fluid in your transmission was very clean in the contrary of mine it was very dark .. can you tell what is the correct interval for changing the fluid ? thank you for this great video :))
@LueysGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah so I actually put the incorrect fluid in even though the fluid said it had the right MB approval. So in this video I changed to the Fuchs fluid which is actually MB approved and yes there is a difference, you can tell when driving it

How do you take the yolk off of this transmission what kind of tool do you use to take the yolk off of the transmission of this car
@LueysGarage2 жыл бұрын
I haven't done that myself yet but I believe its easy since Mercedes uses rubber donuts and you just unbolt all the bolts from the donuts to take the driveshaft off. Hopefully that answers your question?

(722.6) How many litres total 7.5 or 8 ? Torque converter capacity ? Drain pan capacity ? Have shifting issues after fluid change. Filled 4 litres after draining ( low or overfilled)? C200, w204, 2009 model What is the normal Mercedes transmission operating temperature?
@LueysGarage2 жыл бұрын
The total fluid is around 8.5-9 litres but it really depends on how much you drain out. This varies car to car and one of the reasons I like leaving it overnight to drain. You need to get the dipstick and get it up to operating temp which is around 80 degrees C to measure properly
@MrMirceacapusan3 жыл бұрын
Did you drain the torque converter too...or just the pan?
@LueysGarage3 жыл бұрын
I only drained the pan since I don't think my torque converter has a drain plug. But I left it dripping overnight and extracted about 8l which I think is most of the fluid anyway
@fw55323 жыл бұрын
Is there no magnet in the pan?
@LueysGarage3 жыл бұрын
Not for this car, they had magnets in the later 722.6 transmissions. I don't think its really that important so I didn't bother to add one
@MonkeyDropBoss3 жыл бұрын
I have same car 2001 though. Were you scared for transmission shock? My car has 100k and no history of transmission service , will changing the fluid ruin the transmission?
@LueysGarage3 жыл бұрын
I don't believe it will, these 722.6 transmissions are quite robust. Its probably better to do the service rather than letting your transmission run with dirty and old fluid causing more wear and tear
@MonkeyDropBoss3 жыл бұрын
@@LueysGarage Thank you very much for the speedy reply ! I certainly agree with you !
@LueysGarage3 жыл бұрын
@@MonkeyDropBoss no worries, I think another factor is that these transmissions are very common with cheap parts readily available so there's not a huge risk. All the best!
