Mercedes Zetros 2733 - Behind the MOC - Lego Technic + SBrick + BuWizz

My Mercedes Zetros 2733 6x6 is a 1:13,5 scale model. All functions are Full RC. It is 69 cm long, 21 cm wide and has a height of 27,5 cm. The weight is 4553 g. It took me 16 month to complete. As battery I use the BuWizz. The Zetros is remote controlled by 4 Sbricks via iPhone.

This has a lot of features the only thing i would add to it is a speed transmission gearbox but at the time you made this build a gearbox would have either been unreliable or impossible to make

Hi Nobertas, thanks a lot for your comment and thanks for your suggestion. indeed I planed a gearbox in this truck. You can see prototypes of those gearbox here on the channel. Unfortunately the gearbox was to weak and to unreliable for productive use. So I decided for the strong motors without gearbox.

🤣 Na ein klein wenig mehr ist es schon. Zähl mal alleine die Motoren und rechne aus, was die an Gewicht zum Chassis hinzufügen. Dann die Pneumatik. Das sind ja doch ein paar Schläuche drin. Wenn ich mich recht entsinne, wog das Chassis bei Tracktest kaum mehr als 1 kg. Fertig liegt er bei 4,5 kg. Dafür finde ich die Kraft der Motoren echt beeindruckend.

What's the point to use buggy motors for propulsion? I've never dealt with such motors, so explain me please pros and cons.

Thx for asking. I used the buggy motors as I could manage with them low torq and high rpm in the power train - similiar to the real truck. The pros: Powerful, strong, really fast rpm. The cons: Expensive, power consuming, bulky.

Wie machst du das deine Fahrzeuge nicht langsamer in den Kurven werden? Liegt das an der Übersetzung und damit an der ernormen Kraft oder steckt da noch mehr hinter. Weil wenn ich ein 8x8 truck oder ähnliches baue wird er immer in dem Kurven langsamer , manchmal trotz klein auf groß über Setzung.

Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, ob ich weiß, was du meinst. Vielleicht ist es das: Hast du bei der Lenkung drauf geachtet, dass die Räder in unterschiedlichen Winkeln einlenken? Stichwort: Ackermann Geometrie bzw. Ackermann Lenkung. Ist bei dir die Vorderachse angetrieben? Wenn ja, hast du ein Differential verbaut?

How do you like the buggy motors compared to the XL motors?

I like them both. Both have different use cases. To use Buggy Motors in the Zetros is quite unusual. It was tricky to gear them down and make the whole drive train sturdy enough. These motors are much better for light fast cars. The XL are really strong but slow. So it was nit good to power the Zetros with it as they killed all the gears in the former drive train. I finished a new MOC these days using the XLs without drive train and it works really good. So in conclusion: Both are fine :) (btw: Buggy Motors are really expensive and you can buy them only used. That’s a pro for XLs as u can buy them in the Lego store)

Maybe two motors would have been enough. With four the Zetros is ready for every job. And it’s not about speed (I think the Zetros is fast enough for a big truck) it’s about power. As the truck weights more than 4 kg and should be able to climb at least a slope of around 50%/22.5 degrees.

If you mean the motors: I connected them in pairs. So if one motor fails the remaining three will hopefully be able to give enough torque that the truck is still running (but very slowly). I hope that‘s the answer you expected. Otherwise just ask again :)

@@lc-jrx stimmt schon, die 5 Servos allein für die Pneumatik wären höchstwahrscheinlich ein leichter Overkill für ein offizielles Set... aber immerhin sieht bei dir alles stimmig aus, er hat Bodenfreiheit, drei Achsen, keine Lücken überall und vernünftige Reifen... und obwohl er wahrscheinlich doppelt so groß ist, ist der Wendekreis sicherlich auch deutlich besser. Würde Lego es wollen, wäre für den Preis viel mehr drin gewesen...aber naja🤷🏻‍♂️

Mein schwarzer Zetros ist etwas wendiger. Denke aber auch, beim offiziellen wäre etwas mehr möglich gewesen - aber erstmal ein eigenes Bild von machen

Obviously a really nice set (I own three of them ...) but the Zetros is much bigger and has some thousand parts more ;) And it is full RC :)

As this MOC is very big and complex the answer is no. But I'm preparing something similar which much easier to build with more common parts. Will show the new MOC in a few weeks and will release the building instructions in a couple of month. Stay tuned!
