Uncle Kent, quick question, 84CD - sunroof only moves when its 90+ degrees outside and it works flawlessly, when it gets below and colder, it wont even engage. Its properly cleaned and lubricated, it has been bugging me for 2-3 years now?!! Please help

Did you remove the cable, clean the inside of the tube, and re-lube the cable with high-quality grease? Many times I have seen this situation, and high temps warm up the old original, very thick gooey grease and allow the roof to move. You may have old grease in the sunroof motor drive and the clutch is slipping when cold. My video series and service kit address all those issues.

@@Mercedessource sounds like a great idea, I thought it might be lube related but had to ask the GOAT, thank you sir!!

A video series on the tilting sunroofs would be a wonderful thing to see.

Ken, I have a 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 with 225,000 miles on it and I'm wondering if it's worth fixing for $700 in parts including your tools. I replaced the thermostat, radiator fan and the radiator overflow tank. The car still started to overheat so I turned on the defroster since I was over half an hour away and got home asap. Now I'm wondering if I need to replace the radiator to get that under control and then the BlueDriver says the EGR valve needs to be replaced and two of the cylinders are not fire incorrectly so that brings into play your spark plug tuneup kit. Next is the problem of windows don't go up or down seats don't work I replaced those fuses now the problem came back again. Is it worth it fixing or would you sell it/let it go?

Sorry, I would be very hard for me to say since I do not know the history of the car and I do not know your situation. If you can do all the work yourself, it might be worth it if the car has been reasonably maintained over the years.

2 questions, also pertains to manual sunroof as well, and is it feasible to change from power to manual sunroof? I have several manual sunroofs in parts cars and prefer them. I will DEFINITELY purchase your master sunroof service kit.

Yes, as long as you have all the parts from a manual car, it is a pretty straight forward swap.

Hi Kent, I’m located in Sydney, Australia and have been offered a Mercedes Benz at a cheap price from my mechanic who has a customer eager to offload it for US$13250. It’s a 2007 C216 CL500 5.5L V8 with 70k miles, full Mercedes Benz dealership service history, very clean condition inside and out. The only reported problem is the centre dash command display doesn’t work and needs repair or replacement. Can you offer some advice as to whether this vehicle is worth consideration? I’ve never owned a German vehicle and understand the cost of ownership/maintenance could be risky. I’d appreciate any help!

The fact that the owner wants to "unload" it should tell you what you need to know. If you have never had any experience with Mercedes and are not an advanced DIY mechanic, I would advise you stay away from the S-class sedans and coupes. The "honeymoon" can be over very quickly. If you want a good, safe, reliable first Mercedes, I would recommend the W204 chassis C300. Just my humble opinion of course.

Do you have any information on where to find the little plastic feet for a manual sunroof? Not the ones with felt but just plastic

You would have to get them off a parts car.
