Thank you Merce for another fine video. I have 2 big challenges that I would love some advice on. One is Barre chords, esp in the first position. I have wondered if the action on my guitar needs to be adjusted, as it never was. It's a 1971 Ramirez 1A that came to me directly from the shop in Spain with no prior testing it out, etc. I do not live anywhere near a professional luthier who might do this for me, so I will need to travel ~3hrs probably. Second, have you considered doing a video about memorization? I cannot seem to make much progress here, and frequently I just end up plaing the piece over and over again, which I know is not the answer. I am working on the Quarantine piece and loving it! A perfect platform for learning many things! Thank you so much for your part in bringing it into this world. Stay well...

I like it as well... obvious I guess... hahaha The idea that one could just plug information to your brain like they do in matrix... that just fascinates me too much.

@@MerceFont that's absolutely a fascinating (and also scary!) idea. But on a less invasive end, putting on a virtual reality head set gives you an idea how that could be like. Being totally immersed in a virtual world is an amazing experience!

Scuse me, can you suggest me a piece to learn about barrique music different from Bach. Please say me which are the authors that you prefer about classical music. Regards
@niccolopaganini17823 жыл бұрын
Don't know if you find that, but try Telemann's viola concerto in G major, my favorite concerto, Try Handel's chorales, and also try some Hadyn, and their dances, gigues, sarabandes, and bourées,

Hey Merce - a great and thought provoking video! It is great to have measurable goals to work towards, and this inspired me to even write a few of them down, just to make sure I'm accountable. What you said about recording yourself is really true. So many times I'll play something that I think sounds great, listening to the recording...and well, there's this small problem here in the first measure -- oh, another problem to work on in the last measure. And, well..actually all the measures in between have something a bit off :) . But yes -- a tour of the studio would be really interesting!
@MerceFont3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim! Thank you for your comment! I think we all do experience this weird 'shock' after listening to our recordings for the first times. Once we pass the stage of: 'oh damn, everything sounds awful, I suck at this' and you start to use the recordings to really laser focus on the spots that need the most work, it becomes a really useful resource :)

Hi Merce, Thank you for this awesome video, really great advice! Just for the record, my favorite Guitarist is Paco De Lucia, he was incredible! My big problem is always 4 finger chords, not barre chords, chords that need all 4 fingers like B7, I practice and practice but my fingers never land on the right strings, this problem is slowing my progress badly and stopping me from finishing my pieces, any advice would be very much appreciated x
@MerceFont3 жыл бұрын
Great question! I'll be saving it to answer you in a video so that I can show you how you can practice such changes to improve accuracy when taking such chords :)

@Steve W I struggled with that for a few months before I figured out that my problem was that I was letting my arm hang instead of always moving it to keep my wrist and hand in a neutral position. Once I fixed that, it got a lot easier. Of course, I'm sure there's any number of reasons for this kind of issue, but that's what worked for me. Cheers!

Hi Merce, Thanks for all the lessones. I am having trouble with my right hand regarding where exactlly to put the fingers(on top or on the side of the strings). Thanks.

Hi Helawi! thank you for your comment! I made a tutorial just on right hand, because is an issue for many, If you look up for 'right hand essentials' you will find it, is one of my first tutorials in the channel! :D
