Situation is not predictable at the moment due to Covid 19 . It was getting better then this pandemic happened. From where is he pursuing his bachelor degree Course ? If the institution is good at providing placements then you don't have to worry about his career advancement. Otherwise it can create a slight head ache .

DG shipping and IMU requires minimum 60 % PCM now . It would be better if you could call and confirm this from IMU itself . There are some colleges which admits students with PCM less than 60%. But I suggest not to join in such colleges . They may be a low C1or C2 CIP grade institutes . Also it will be a problem to give 2nd mate exams in India of you haven't completed the DNS Course after fulfilling DG requirement. So please get it clarified from IMU itself.
