I am a Chief Engineer by profession.
I have been sailing for the last 14 years. Passed out from MERI Kolkata in the year 2008. Joined Seaarland Ship Management as an Engine Cadet, over the course I have sailed in the past with British Petroleum and Anglo-Eastern as well.
With the help of YT Channel Merchant Navy Decoded and the website www.merchantnavydecoded.com, we are trying to make this profession more transparent. All our endeavors are towards promoting good shipping companies, good colleges and sharing updated information about the same.
There are so many myths attached to this profession and so many fraudulent activities operational that sometimes even students with good backgrounds land themselves into bad Shipping Companies. Futures have been destroyed because of lack of proper guidance and this KZbin channel will try its best to help those who are in need to get into a good shipping company.

Same question bro i have completed 12th with pcm in 2020 (overall 58%). I seek to join the Merchant Navy but is it worthy to do 12th again through NIOS for DNS eligibility. It's also depends on age in some colleges age limit is only 21 years old.

@VedantDeshmukh9, I don't think so. You need at least 5 subjects in one board, and according to a NIOS student, you have to prepare for both 11th and 12th-grade books for the NIOS exam. Honestly, it seems quite risky, and no one knows if it's really possible or not. I've lost my interest in this job and now I'm focusing on a more secure and reliable career.
