The great Steve Winwood. Great vocals, plays about 30 different instruments at a high level, and one of the best Keyboard players. Born, and raised in England.

I am so accustomed to seeing Steve performing behind the Hammond Organ that I forget he is also a fantastic guitarist.... and yes, that was Eric Clapton at the end.

Windwood played in one of the “ supergroups “ with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, both ex Cream, called Blind Faith. Short lived but worth a listen.

This is a Classic! Perfection. Yes, that was Eric Clapton. Eric hosted an annual Crossroads Music Festival in support of his addiction recovery center in Antigua. Steve was one of his guests at this event.

I am shocked to see you react to Steve Winwood, because I just heard an unbelievable performance of Steve when he was in the Spencer Davis Group. It is a traditional blues tune called NOBODY LOVES YOU WHEN YOU ARE DOWN AND OUT. He channels Ray Charles in a totally different style voice than he used in later incarnations. It was stunning. He sounds like a old black man with arthritis. If you listen, you woll be floored.

Winwood is a true prodigy. As you can see in this video, he can really jam on the guitar, plus he plays many other instruments as well. Oh, and he was singing for the Spencer Davis Group at 16 yrs old😮 "little Stevie Winwood"

Steve Winwood was 19 years old when this song was originally released. This version is from the Madison Square Garden concerts he did with Eric Clapton.

Yes, that was Eric Clapton at the end. He organized the Crossroad shows for years and brought a lot of great people to play on at the shows & with him. They're about to do a song called "I Can't Find My Way Home' from the band they were in together called Blind Faith. It was a super group & they just made one album together but it was a great album. You should check out 'I Can't Find My Way Home' by them! Steve is an icon of icons & has worked with all the greats. Jimi Hendrix sought him out to play organ on Voodoo Chile with him & had wanted to be in a band with Steve. He's been performing since he was 8 years old, with his dad and brother. Total legend that all musicians respect.

In the same vein of the performer having to deal with the industry, try the sone from Traffic, "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys". This isn't a short song but it is a wonderful mix of jazz and rock. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGmwaYVuaJp2oZY is a live version from 1972 and here's the cut from the album - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHWqoKV_jL6tY6M Make sure you pull up the lyrics so you can see how I think it ties in with what you were saying.
