“I have most fond memories of when we played with Sodom and Sepultura in Fagersta in 1989. Holy shit! Tom Angelripper is standing there in sweatpants. With a semi-hard-on in my pants, I approached him with the stumbling phrase, ‘Hello Ripper, we like your music.’ Sepultura were great guys, so fucking cool and nice. You know, back in those days they were fucking gods to me. I met Max six or seven years later, when he jumped out of their tour bus here in Stockholm. I just said, ‘Hello Max, do you remember me?’ And he immediately replied, ‘Yes, you’re the bass player from Merciless.’ I was overwhelmed. That show was amazing, the sound is brutal, one of the highest quality in sound and image. Merciless always will be one of the best Death metal bands.

They said that the Sodom was very arrogant and considered superior for being the main band, had prejudice with people from South America,/black people, start to sabotage the sound, the light and began to mistreat Sepultura. What a line up, at their prime! Each band highly influenced by the next. Today Merciless is a cult act, Sepultura a joke (even the Cavaleras are trying hard to get some metal back), Sodom is like a Motorhead-type of thrash.

Mayhem sound it´s 80% stolen from Merciless, one of the most brutal and underrated bands of this planet (Dead´s vocals it´s a clear prove of that) Great gig this one! Merciless were fuckin intense, Sepultura at their best moment & Sodom....sorry i love Sodom but they lose horribly in intensity with those 2 brutal bands.

Prior to that tour Frank Blackfire quit the band (to join Kreator I think), so Sodom had a new guy on guitar. It showed. It was almost embarrassing how much better both Merciless & Sepultura were. I was there with a friend and it was unbelievable. It was freezing outside and I remember hearing Sepultura doing Inner Self at their soundcheck. You just knew those guys meant business.

Sodom was worried about sepultura getting more fame and status then them (sodom was the headliner), so at the tour sodom has started some jokes like pull the guitar cables, turn off the lights and other things. So the guys of Sepultura were pissed and has stopped to take baths, started to piss inside the buss and throw sodom's cloathes out of the bus they were together
