I most often feel the lessons I have learnt when I recount the event to others , like I am teaching myself . Perhaps it will help others to recognise danger etc . The stories may therefore be of use to those who hear them . The tragedies and other drama shows the tenuous nature of life which is a lesson in itself . But personally I don’t like the bad stuff either .

Indigenous Australians would expire within hours when the "judge" pointed the bone at them , quite a common thing back in the day and modern doctors that studied this over many years were baffled by it . The findings were simply that healthy adults willed themselves to expire because of their beliefs .
@jarnMod8 ай бұрын
I see that as a placebo effect. Now it is well documented and still studied. I've one distant relative who was a strict vegetarian. Been vegetarian for decades. One day he fell ill. He didn't believe he was ill. He was vegetarian. Vegetarian doesn't get ill, and that's what he told me. Vegetarian only gets old and old is not ill. Then, Google happened. He used Google to search for his sluggishness and some sort of cancer came up. He told me about it, and I could see him whiter away. He died in that week. Forensic said he died because he had too low protein. I don't recall the name of the condition. No cancer was found. Basically, he placebo himself to death. Meanwhile my laborer got himself some hornet larvae for dinner. He made mistake and got stung all over. He also had allergic reaction. While I called for ambulance, his mother got a king cobra whiskey (it's some sort of super med in SEA) and got him to sip it. The dude didn't even need real medicine afterwards. I know because there was no hospital bill. So, in this context, where it is body reaction, thought can kill, and heal. As for panic hitting family members, I might call that a lack of thought. Is he the killer a man who think or a man who react without thinking? In Asia there was once a concept of one losing oneself and that can indeed reduce penalty. I'm not sure there is such concept in Africa. So is the man killed because he thinks, or because he didn't even think?

In Guyana SA they have a snake called a two step snake. He bites,you get two steps and your dead. So thought it meant you only have time to look up and see the roof of the village and your dead. Our pastor was in Guyana as a young man and the story about the two step snake was ,a pastor in the jungle there was bitten just as he got to the home of a sister of the church. He stepped in the door and told he’d just been bitten and she replied “Praise the Lord,Brother!” He answered “Praise the Lord Sister! “ and he went on about his buisness. The moral is ,when you don’t have any options ,but to ask God for a miracle,your more likely to see a miracle than a person in a first world country who is going to try and get to the ER and never stop and ask for the miracle. It’s not a fable,but told as a first hand true story. From that pastor to my pastor.

It is a story that I have heard from two trusted people, my own Father and a neighbour. That as death approaches the soul leaves the body to go just high enough over the physical body. It can see and hear from above and has emotion. In both case my Father and neighbour came back from the brink of death and told the tale of their experience. There are also many stories on YT of near death experiences where people came back to tell their experience. So the legend that a snake bite victim may see the roof of his home before death is corroborated.

I’ve been stung by a swarm of bees before and it wasn’t as painful as I’d imagined it would be. They were the small tame type in the north but all my life, I’ve been deathly afraid of bees so I can imagine the psycological fear making things out to be worse and going into shock. Do snakes cause anaphylactic reactions?
@fredericksterzel84058 ай бұрын
They do . A friend of mine hired a young man to work at his venom extraction farm . A Black Mamba managed to twist and just scratch one of his fingers with a fang . He was dead in minutes . That was severe sensitivity to the venom , not anaphylaxis but venom and serum can have the effects you mention .

I have a question for the Q&A. What does a snake bite feel like? And it seems like half the people believe you should tie something tightly above the bite to prevent the blood from reaching the heart and then suck out the poison while others say that’s hogwash, don’t do that. Which camp are you in? When i was a child, my mom said a snake bite just feels like a briar scratch, you barely notice it. But she also told me child birth doesn’t hurt so I don’t think she’s a reliable source although i do believe she said this with the good intentions of preventing fear. Back then everyone was in the suck out the poison camp.

As I’ve aged my fear of heights has become more and more intense. It’s to the point now that I can’t even watch the idiots that do acrobatics on the ledges of high rise buildings. I’ve wondered if, ever put in such a situation, my fear of heights would cause me to become dizzy and simply plummet to my death. This from a guy who as a child and into my twenties would climb to the top of the highest tree and climb rock faces just for the challenge.

Same here, bro. I was never afraid of heights, but now they bother me greatly. The trick is to get back up there to do what you must, then carry on & you can get past it in the moment. Afterward, of course I am always a bit shakey lol. I never fell or really even had a close call. I just started getting really nervous about being high up -- to the point of actual fear. I don't know why.

Animals can die from a thought too. Dudaman Dumitri was a Christian who was persecuted and to be exiled from his home during communist Romania. When he told his family his dog stopped eating and a day before he was to be exiled his dog ran off. He went to look for it and found it dead in a field with no injuries or explanation for its death. He believed the dog sensed his beloved owner was leaving and died of a broken heart. I know another case where a child had a beloved cat but the cat had an infection that caused some pain which the child didn’t understand so when the child picked up the cat the cat scratched the child and the child in anger yelled at the cat she hated it. The cat ran outside and literally died. The child felt enormous guilt because she didn’t hate the cat but even as an adult she believes her words killed the cat. I think animals understand more than people sometimes realize. As for dying from shock, I could see myself falling over dead from a non poisonous snake bite. Snakes are simply terrifying to me.

Everyone should read The Elephant Whisperer - Laurence Anthony . He saved some problem elephants and they came to develop a deep love between him and the elephants . When he died age 61 at a conference the elephants immediately proceeded to his house . They were many hours walk from the house and arrived not long after his death . They stood there at his house in his honour for two days without eating then quietly left . This book will change your view on several things and give you a good look into South Africa . Men like him and i have shared the African bush and his stories too are extraordinary . No doubt Dudamans dog died of grief and the cat too . We had a dog that could never be taken to the vet . If any of us thought that term - vet - the dog would disappear for a day or so . Eventually we had to think - ok we wont take her to the vet - then shortly thereafter she would appear , always at a distance to make sure we meant what we thought . Animals know more than you think .
