I got the privilege of spending a month in the Northern Kalahari doing some wildlife work with some local trackers. We had some well stocked trucks with food, water and fuel, we were able to be out in the shrubs for a week at a time. An experience I will likely never get to repeat and certainly one I won't ever forget. Spectacular place but not forgiving of mistakes.

Hey Mr. Stroud!!! With all respect, I would love to offer a tip for finding water in the desert... find a tree, and dig untill you find the trees water source 👍 sometimes it may be 2 or 3 feet, but where theres a tree, theres water 😉 im a huge fan and i would love to share this info! I have never thought about ostrich eggs being able to just travel around in the heat and be cooked at any time.... that is amazing. Should have been obvious because they are from a hot climate, but I didn't know it would be like that! Wonderful And I also had no idea you could eat charcoal from your fire...

eggs can travel, the reason you refrigerate store eggs is because when they clean them they wash off the protective coating eggs have. If you harvest your own or buy from a farmer they can sit out. Theres also a way to re add the coating by soaking them in lime (the rock) water to rebuild the mineral shell

Peanut putter is one of yhe best suvival foods. Lots of protein and sugar. It doesnt go bad and it wont spill unless super hot.

Ground coffee or even whole coffee beans once chewed up and rubbed on your gums would give temporary energy boost. Yes, it may make you more tired after the effects wore off but in the small window that energy can help you push forward.

It's good to know that I'm willing to eat anything to survive. My father is a foodie and has traveled all over the world. Growing up he had us try all kinds of bizarre foods. For example, rodents, reptiles, and even insects. As long as I have water and hopefully fire, I'm sure I could survive.

Very entertaining and educational, a good video overall. But as a person having grown up in Namibia, I am pretty sure it has never gotten to 60°C as is shown on the screen at 8:57. Even 50°C is higher than you will find in Nam. But it can frequently get to 40 or just over 40. But mostly in the mid 30's for most of the country (including the Kalahari). But still great video though!
