Worked for our 2006 Bayliner 175 with Mercury 3000, too. Physically looks identical.

I just picked up my used 2008 Bayliner 175 today and began watching your videos as soon as I returned home. Thanks for posting and sharing such relevant content!

I’ve been thrilled with this boat so far, I’m use to v8 boats and had my doubts but this but the 175 does everything I want and even tows a tube really well with a 200# guy behind it! Enjoy!

Just finished replacing the Alt belt on my 2010 Mercruiser 3.0. That 7395 fit perfect. Nice tip about zip tieing the old belt as a back up. Great job. Thanks...

Man this is an awesome video. Thank you. I also have a 2009 175 Bayliner. Fantastic starter boat. P.S. since you're technically sound, you might as well remove the TKS Carb and clean it out. Easy work just pick up a Sierra Carb kit and replace the gaskets and avoid yourself idling issues. cheers!

Can you show me a picture with the struts how you set that up. That is pretty slick when doing maintenance.

You mean for the engine cover? Those are stock and this is actually an 09 model, I said 08 at the beginning by accident.

Did you end up having to jack the engine from underneath to hold it in place with the engine mount spacer off? I have a 2008 Bayliner w/Mercruiser 3.0 stern drive and will be replacing the belt and alternator within the next week or so...wasn't sure if the Mercruiser 3.0 engines in the newer 2000+ models need to be jacked or not. I'm hoping it's not needed based on the lack of space underneath the engine. Thanks for posting the video.

No I didn't need to do anything but just remove the bolt and spacer. Good idea to check the other bolts are tight first so it doesn't want to shift on ya.

@@trbokmro How'd you get your pulley off? I removed the 4 bolts in front, doesn't seem to budge. Don't want to break anything by forcing it out too hard. EDIT: Problem solved. Used a wooden dowel rod to knock it loose...I don't think the belt would've fit through without removing that pulley first.

Thank you for posting the video. Now I do have a question regarding the alternator. The original is rated at 55Amps and the one you linked to the Amazon is rated at 65Amps. Will that make any difference. And BTW, how was your boat running after installing the alternator and the belt? Any feedback is much appreciated.

Higher amp alternators I consider an upgrade especially if you plan to install a stereo, depth finder or any other electronics. It’s very common in the auto industry to have a baseline low option vehicle with a lower rated alt and have a higher optioned same model with a higher amp alt. Same in my option and we’re only talking ten amps. My boat ran flawless all year and we took it out al least once a week.

My 3.0 has moved a bit when I took the engine mount block out, I haven't been able to get the block back in and the two bolt bolt holes to line up to reinstall. Very irritating

Find a tree to park it under and use a come along or heavy ratchet strap to lift the engine up. Your bracket must be lose go over all the bolts when the spacer is back in place

@@trbokmro I finaly got it, put 2x4s across the gunnels and jacked it up with a chain and scissor jack. Had to move motor a bit to the side with a porta power also. Was harder than it should have been, but got it done.

both belts are 7395XL ?

yes, my engine only uses 1 belt for the alternator the second is just a spare. Mine does not have power steering.

Did you have to support the engine when you removed the motor mount piece?
@trbokmro2 жыл бұрын
No you can just remove the piece

What was the part number of the alternator?

And what was the alternator you purchased on Amazon?
Does having teeth vs no teeth make a difference? I thought i ordered the wrong one but now it seems that the one you replaced was also smooth and put in a belt with teeth...

As long as it’s rated for automotive use you will be fine, I wouldn’t recommend using a belt rated for small gas engines/lawn mowers and such.
