The mercury optimax were great motors had a 2016 115 evinrude etec on a 174 princecraft aluminum running 49+ mph on flat water...good video

Thanks Steve, loved that engine. Glad you’re having no issues with your E-Tec. Have a great boating season my friend.

Nice sounding outboard. The optimax I have always are sensitive to fuel problems. And if you want to go fast three blade props are always better performance than four.

Just bought one of these for 5k with only 220 hours. They sound great. How big was the boat and what was the cruising speed and fuel economy?
@scottiesoutdoors51696 ай бұрын
Crestliner 17.5 foot aluminum “raptor” (fish hawk model). This boat was actually quite good on fuel for a 2 stroke, and still runs very well for the new owner. Boat pops out of the hole and gets up on plane in no time. You got a really good price for that motor I might add @Timbuctoo, well done.

The Opti 2 stroke engines were very very storng. This 150 probably has the hole shot of a modern 225 four stroke. I just wish they had the fuel economy and almost zero maintenance cost of a modern 4 stroke. The 150 and up optimax were all expected to need a fuel pump and an air pump at 1000 hours. Both of these parts are $1000 each. So with labor, these parts were very near $3000 at 1000 hours. At 1000 hours, a Yamaha or Honda four stroke will cost you............an oil change.

So far so good Kevin, I’ve only had to replace the water pump at this point. But I barely have 500 hours on the head, so here’s hoping…lol

Scotties Outdoors I am looking at an 08 with 350 hour and he said it’s had two cylinders replaced. What kind of hour dependability do they have? He said it only pushes his boat about 45 22ft Lowe takita
@scottiesoutdoors51695 жыл бұрын
American Made - that sounds about right...that’s a lot of boat for a 150...as for dependability, it all depends on who did the work. If it was warranty, it should last for a good while...if it was a private marina, you take your chances and just hope they were certified mechanics...I’d be a little weary purchasing a motor like that to be honest.
