I have fule coming out of that small hole for choke..what could it be?grate video btw!thank you
@sirmarcusandrew5 жыл бұрын
If it’s the small hole on the right side of assembly next to primer, I had a similar problem. My primer had degraded inside leaving only mesh and the trash blocked the fuel from entering carb and instead pushed fuel out of small hole towards starter. I believe the hole actually is to allow air back into the primer to release suction. You can buy a kit that replaces only that part or a complete carb rebuild kit.

Need feedback on correct float orentation , being told flat side of the float "with no ridge" must go aganst the float forks , but in your example as you disembled it came out ridged side orentated against the float lever , did someone reassemble it incorrectly in the past or am I being misinformed ?

sirmarcusandrew thanks for this video! I'm from Brazil and Suzuki and Yamaha are very strong brands in the market, but I really love mercury products. It is really hard to find some replacement parts here and your video help me to save a lot of money keeping my outboard away from bad mechanics. My outboard is the same as yours, but without the starter kit. Can I say my carburetor is the wmc 53a?

This was so helpful, but I am a little confused at 7:58. What is in the center of the carb as you are lifting the float lever. I imagine this is the main jet, but every video I see they seem to back this out with a screwdriver to clean it. In this case, I don't see how you would remove this for cleaning?
@sirmarcusandrew6 жыл бұрын
The main jet in this particular carb is inside of the bolt/screw you used to remove the bowl. I don't think you can fully separate it. Mercury sells a replacement bolt/screw with the jet... you get normal or high altitude. You can kind of see the screw inside the bolt at 7:32 if you pause it. I was able to loosen it but it would not come all of the way out. I flushed it and reinstalled it. The kit I used did not include a new one.

@6:35 that little ball you mentioned, my carb is missing that ball when I took it apart, would that cause low end performance issues? Sluggish, feels like a misfire until you get to high RPM's where it works fine.

The screw in the front adjusts mixture. The screw on the side that moves when you advance the throttle, adjusts the idle.

Warning..... there is a small ball bearing on the Spring. Be careful because you will easily lose it then your motor will flood everytime you tilt it.. you "cannot" find a oem replacement carburetor for this beast of a motor. If you blow your motor up the carb will sell for a easy $400 by itself.. I've had like six people try to buy my carb...
@NormalPuika25 күн бұрын
I bought a used motor. It started and ran perfectly during the check, but under load, the RPMs would fluctuate and the engine would stall. I disassembled the carburetor and found that the ball on the spring was missing. I went to a bearing shop and found a ball with the right diameter - it cost 7 cents. Now everything works great!

@sirmarcusandrew4 жыл бұрын
Advancing the throttle slightly does the same thing (at least on mine). Watch the arm on the starboard side of the engine move as you advance the throttle. For part numbers go here: www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/parts-and-accessories/parts-catalog Then launch the parts catalog and put in the serial number (you can also browse by basic engine type to get pretty close) if you don’t have the serial number. Possible part number is “127332 wire fast idle”
