Mercury Grand Marquis Crown vic Blend Door Actuator location .

This is a quick fix to get AC and Heat with a Bad Blend door Actuator.My 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis and will work for many Grand Marquis or Ford Crown Vic Victoria cars.

These are one of the worst parts of the panther platform among others like the intake manifold. You can get better access by taking your airbag out (2- 7mm bolts and 2- 8mm bolts). These actuators are a tight fit and I ended up bashing mine off with a pry-bar and hammer by breaking the screws off. The plastic ducting cracked but I sealed it with windshield urethane. I’m ordering a new part and will install it with the one screw that is accessible and a giant glob of urethane underneath the new actuator. Fingers crossed it will work! After many swear words and bloody knuckles, Ford has gained a critic that would love to meet the engineer who designed this and kick him squarely in the nuts. Unfortunately, we either have to spend a fortune and take it to the crooks at the Ford dealership, drop the glove box every time we want to change the temperature, or commit to actually fixing it. In my case, I bought this car for my daughter, who lives in Kansas which has hellacious summers and cursedly cold winters. So, my only option is to get ALL the systems to work without issue, which not the easiest undertaking when it is made by Ford. Other than that, I think they are cool cars and should be safer than all the other options for a kid’s starter car.

I was successful with getting access to the blend door from the glove compartment. I used a pair of right angle pliers and was able to turn the top white plastic piece that turns the blend door. It took about 10 times before I could move it. Finally I ran the climate control diagnostics which forces it to try and move it. This is where I hear the click click click sound because its jammed. I could see it trying to move it and with a little help from my pliers it moved from cold to heat. I think if you use a small channel locks pliers you could clamp it on and leave it there. It will be like a handle making it a lot easier next time.

We have a F150 with something wrong like this. We've had the door, tied off, for A/C or for heat. Ready to trade the thing in, since we need to replace the whole A/c dash panel.

So exactly what year is this particular vehicle, is see yours is a Mercury, also I don't know what yours is, mines a 1995 Crown Vic, yours slightly different than mines, I need to get to it asap for it jus stopped working the atm won't move, and to matters worse the weather is drastically changing, bbrrrr🤢😱 for it's freezn n raining, n snowing😭😭 I've got no heat. Help me😲 also this gonna be a dealer part or can I get at Champion Auto Parts, Western auto, or orielys or autozone? Its easier to see the black piece under the actuator if you remove the Air bag and duct.You can break it off,then you wont have to remove all that any more to move the rod when you want to.There is alot of videos how to remove those things around KZbin.Feel free to ask for any advice,If i can help i will.And please share this around if its helpful in any way.Thanks Steve

Sorry,It doesnt sound like this is your issue.You should see a mechanic for the popping sound.This video just covers the internal switch moving from Hot to Cold.

@@JerseySteve1 I was able to use right angle pliers and turn the top white plastic piece to move it. Maybe small channel locks on that top white piece could be more of a permanent solution when you need to change it again

@@n1kkri Good so you have heat now,I'm glad.Yeah there's a few videos that mention that.Mine was seized from inside the actuator,It wouldn't move at all.I'm glad though that you were able to locate it and get it going.Being in Jersey i know you had to be getting frustrated with the cold coming in.
