Wish someone would do a video where the rivets need to be drilled out. I'm not an aerospace engineer so that would be helpful.

using an awl or a punch, punch out the center point of the rivet (the steel mandrel). Then it should be no problem to drill out the aluminum rivet.

To whoever: Use a drill bit that is just a little bigger than what can fit in the rivet hole... drill. The rivet _will_ come out.

I have a 98 Crown Vic and the driver window makes noise from the winder when I use the button to move it up and down but the window itself doesn’t move. There is no weird noise just regular window motor noise, is the window glass just off track?

The best lubricant to use on electric windows is WD40 Silicone Spray lubricant or any brand of Silicone spray lubricant... because it is more water resistant and lasts longer than regular WD40. I've always used silicone spray lubricant on my vehicles with electric windows. One of my cars is 36 years old and its electric windows still run like new.. I only spray the window channels once per year so the windows go up and down without getting stuck.

correct on all counts, although if you are in a warm state (Florida) every 4 months is ok. You are not using that much, just a very light spray will do it.

@PowerUpAuto2 жыл бұрын
completely. 80-91 use a metal window regulator, not cable. 1992-2013 use the same regulator

:-p Pro TIP: Do not be in the habit of holding down the switch too long, at all, when opening and closing any window. That can lead to the wire/s messing up.

I bought a Dorman assembly. It came in a box to fit with absolutely _NO_ packing material! There was a big hole in the box right where the motor was located, and a big hole in one of the corners. The motor tested dead. I returned it. After multiple attempts to get a refund, they gave me only a little over 50% back. I will never buy a Dorman so-called product again... _never!_

To whoever: This is like any other job. You test to figure out what actually has to be done. With this case, if it is just a bad motor, you don't need to worry about rivets because you are not replacing the whole assembly
