Which version of the 105 groupset is used in the 2020/2021 scultura 400 rim? Older one or the newer 7000? I could not find this information on their website. Also, brilliant comparison and a great video! Just that the 300 rim version uses merida road comp brakes and not tiagra calipers ( as mentioned on their website ) I hope you could answer my question regarding the groupset version on the 400 rim. The ride quality cannot be seen on a Spech sheet. Scultura 200 should cost around 70k. 9.3 kgs. Same for contend. The ride will be much much better. The convolution weighs less because of wheels yes...but Merida or giant have much better frames. You can only understand after riding 30 KMS or so atleast. It cannot be seen on paper.

8.8 kg. The website weight is wrongly mentioned. A rim brake alu bike.with 105 cannot weigh less than caad12.

You can as well buy the Contend AR3 then. The contend ar has better tyre clearance than Domane. 40mm vs 35mm. My point is I would prefer the equivalent contend ar over Domane AL disc...if they cost same...(which they do in most markets).

Scultura 400 if all of the riding is on road. If you hit light Gravel 30% times and tarmac 70% times then Domane AL5 disc. Giant Contend SL1 is also a very good bike.

Hello, the merida website says the the max tire clearance for the rim versions is 25mm but you say in the video is 28mm, that is for the disc versions or for the rim versions also?

The media does say so. However my friend has a Scultura Rim. He has been able to squeeze in a 28c Gp5000. Some 28's would fit. Some may not. True 28's would. Some when fitted bloat to 30c. They wouldn't.

No 4000 is. Not 400. Merida use 4 digits for Carbon and 3 for Aluminium.

Yes...in the sense that Scultura is more of a climbing bike. Reacto is aero bike. Not only that, the geometry number are quite different. Reacto is very aggressive. Scultura is aggresive...only. Both by the standards of climbing and race bikes ride pretty decent. But yes there are better Carbon bikes than Scultura like TCR... But Reacto at each of its price points is one of the best aero bikes. (Talking only for carbon). For aluminium I have made a 1000$ bike vide u may Check.

Very good video! I'm evaluating options to buy for using in a trainer Tacx Neo 2 and I'm not sure what would be a reasonable option. I found on my country the Merida Scultura 400 available. I need to use it with my wife and two daughters that are a little bit smaller than me. But also I wanna use it on road once in a while. Would you consider a frame in the middle where I can shift the seat a little bit and make it usable for the 4 of us? I am about 170 and my daughters and wife about 158 - 160 would you consider Small frame for all of us? probably I'am S-M and the rest could be S or 2S

If you are 170 or 5'7 you need an S. 100%. And your daughters and wife who are around 5'3 could do with XXS. XS maybe a stretch unless they have long arms. For yourself (in general) regardless of the bike or geometry or size chart....look for a size in which the effective top tube length is around 525-535. For their sake, aka someone who is around 5'3, look for a size with effective top tube length around 500-510. This works regardless of brands or geometry. The stack and reaches vary for geometries. But effective top tube length stays mostly same as the headtube and seattube are more or less parallel. Also no single frame can adjust for all of you. Sorry. It's not happening. And also buy two cheaper bikes if on a tight budget that fit....rather than a bike that is the wrong size for 1 or 2 of you.
