The NEW BIG.TRAIL - a development story

Capable, reliable, low maintenance and a lot of fun on the trail, our BIG.TRAIL gives an incredible amount of bang for your buck, making it the perfect alternative to a full-suspension machine for riders on a tight budget or those that want a closer connection to the trail. With the introduction of this third generation, we’ve updated the geometry to deliver more confident handling, while also making numerous other changes to refine and improve the bike.
Since its introduction to the MERIDA range in 2016, the BIG.TRAIL has been a huge success, even becoming the leading mountain bike in some of MERIDA's national markets. The previous generation introduced 29er wheels to the trail hardtail segment and, along with forward-thinking geometry and a focus on outstanding value for money, made it a firm favourite with riders and catapulted it to press acclaim.
The latest incarnation picks up where the old one left off, bringing even more fun to the party. The updated geometry, with a slacker head angle and increased reach, gives impressive trail stability and the steeper seat angle offers a comfortable and efficient riding position. The new frame also boasts further detail improvements such as clean cable routing and increased frame protection, giving the new BIG.TRAIL a much more premium look than the price suggests.
This winning combination of modern trail bike geometry with long travel forks and chunky 29er wheels delivers outstanding handling, massive obstacle-swallowing ability and impressive cornering grip and will continue to be the first and most affordable choice for trail riders around the world.

1:45 That rubber chain guard looks pretty short. You should stretch it all the way to the middle, otherwise there's a chance the chain will hit the frame. Competing brands have it similarly short, and the frame is bruised because of it.
