I think Ethiopia should focus on infrastructure building and agriculture before going to the fancy stuff like websites, apps and bots. Technology is enabler for the whole supply chain

@@Hkim185 what I’m saying is we need to have the basic stuff like internet access, access to road, electricity, clean water, stable food supplies and etc. I like the idea of leap frogging but prior to that we need to have at least all those basic needs. It’s difficult to talk about leap frogging with the country of internet penetration 16.7%, road length 120,000Km, 8 million people living in a extreme drought every year.

I think the interview touched so many points, it was kind of hard to follow the point. My recommendation to Meri is to focus on a few points for future interviews or summarize what they answer you to make sure the audience will get the point.

Raising capital cant be a measure of a startup. Raising too much and too low both arent right. But when you raiser capital it makes the startup growth way faster. Capital raising should be cost effective and structured correctly.

It is unfortunate that a lot of what he is saying will be lost in translation. I don’t think the interviewer himself understood him a 100% of the time because the guy is speaking in American English way of speaking. Most of what he is saying will be misunderstood or not be understood by a lot of people. But knowing where he came from, I can totally understand why he couldn’t speak in Amharic a 100% of the time. My advice to Meri is, when interviewing diasporas, in the beginning of your interview, nicely remind them to speak in Amharic as much as possible so they can catch themselves when they drift off to English. As a diaspora myself, sometimes we don’t even realize it when we mix English when we speak but a reminder will get us to pay attention to how we speak.
