Most amazing lyrics, music, live performances ever. My favorite band. I’ve met them all. They’re nice and down to earth. Very very philosophical.

saw this in concert and honestly I have never felt so convicted and yet freed in my life such a vast amount of emotions. truly s song that expresses both the amount of how deserved we are to be Destin in the darkness yet we have been redeemed. freed and lead to true joy

It was my first mewithoutYou show, and i'm so thankful i was able to see it. I always loved listening to them, but seeing them in concert is on a whole different level of greatness. I hope to be able to see them again sometime soon. The venue i saw them at was a very small room and after the show i got to take a picture with Aaron.

+dhoulmagus11 Yes, of course. There are so many great underground bands: Pedro The Lion, Pony Express, The Juliana Theory, The Lassie Foundation, MAP, Enemy Ships, Luxury, Velour 100, The Brothers Martin, Seam, Bark Psychosis, etc... And some bands that are pretty well-known, but still worth checking out: Brand New, La Dispute, Copeland, Ride, Thrice, Codeine, American Football, Sunny Day Real Estate, etc.

Pale horse songs of a slow decline Sideshow words if the songs don't mind God gave Noah the rainbow sign No more water, is the H-Bomb next time? Pale horse vows in a grave reply Smile for the camera at a church' nearby Threw a mute curse at the Boise sky For my fucked up Napolean of St. Helena hairline Black horse leaping when the frogs withdrew The parable of the plums where the olives grew Clouded rearrangement of sounds we knew: An Idaho sunset for my own private Waterloo Pale horse songs of a slow decline Side show words if our moms don't mind: Cloud gave no one a rainbow sign Six-point starred ink flag next time? שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל ה' אֱלֹהֵינוּ ה' אֶחָד قل هو الله احد الله الصمد With imperial crowns we were sent, Riding out conquest-bent Daylight is breaking Wielding the sanctified sword For the army of the Scarecrow Lord Daylight is breaking Balancing scales at our feet Measuring out two pounds of barley, six pounds of buckwheat Beasts of the Battersea Shield At the opening of the fourth seal The sky, I'd been told Would roll up like a scroll As the mountains and islands moved from their place And the sun would turn black As a dead raven's back But there'd be nowhere to hide From the Judge's face After which message-less birds take flight without cause To the silence they've heard in the absence of laws Or imperial crowns: Unsent, unsigned The other night I dreamt I was finally out of college In my own pair of sandals, I had turned into my father Whistling my tune about the Rio Grande Like an anchorite in June I took hold of my own hand And started on the Abrahamic joke we knew About apostrophes and pronouns and you remember who But let's keep that silly punchline between me and you Little Haroon and the man in the moon.

I'm not sure I like the "Fuck" drop. Don't get me wrong, I use it and I'm around it all the time so that's not it. I think it's more that I've always seen them as deeply spiritual and I look up to them in the regard, and foul words humanize that which I hold sacred. Like hearing a kid say it for the first time: it seeps the life/innocence out of it. I know I'm just weird. Maybe someone else thought the same. I guess fuck has its place, I just don't like it in beautiful poetry.
@youngmasterjacob9 жыл бұрын
NinjaTrickVideos I tend to agree with you, although I have come to accept it. In an interview Aaron said: "…and then there’s the four-letter words, some language that I have kept edited out in the past. I don’t like to curse a lot, but it’s there. I didn’t want to not put it on an album just because I thought maybe they won’t sell it at a Christian bookstore or something. That’s no reason to change what you’re creating."
@Tesumph9 жыл бұрын
I gotta agree. Not because language bothers or offends me.. It just seemed out of place. I've always viewed cuss words as a primitive way of proving a point (although they certainly have their place) and definitely not something that someone as articulate as Aaron would use. At the same time, I appreciate the honesty he's put into this album, and his lack of concern of judgement. As long as he didn't throw it in there to discretely 'get with the times' like Mumford and Sons, hoho..
@jetgens9 жыл бұрын
+NinjaTrickVideos Aaron would be to the first to admit he isn't innocent. I mean, look at the lyrics of a lot of his previous albums. He admits to looking down a girls dress while pretending to pray. To me, this is Aaron just being honest with us. He's saying, look, I'm human, too. It remind me of warnings from Hebrew writings where we shouldn't put our faith in man. That is, humans will find a way of letting us down. Even those spiritual. Despite this, cussing, or saying "fuck" is really relative to an individual. It's just a word. Words hold no real meaning other than what we give them. So I don't think it's really a loss of innocence. It's just a perspective. Regardless, the raw nature of this album I really appreciate. It shows Aaron's humility in displaying his human nature that all of us have. It's not hidden or edited out. I respect him for doing this.

Great points all around.

***** Haha gotta agree there! I actually laughed out loud when I reread my comment, I'm not sure what I was thinking and that was just 2 months ago. Maybe just poor wording; I have no problem with cussing and am often called out on being too free with my tongue. As of right now, knowing the album thoroughly, that part of that song is one of my favourites. So laughably genuine. I was probably just feeling convicted/pissed at myself for my own language at the time of my original comment, thus that opinion. I can still relate to the original post, but my personal "relationship" with mwY's music has evolved into something much deeper than just appreciation for poetry, and something like "fuck" seems like a petty thing to notice now.
