This song was the B-side of the song called "Old Man From the Mountain." It entered the Billboard Country Singles Charts on March 2, 1974 and stayed on the charts for 15 weeks and peaked at #1 on August 24, 1974.

Hey Don, this backing vocalist is Bonnie Owens, this was a great song this was done early in Merle's, career his voice was really good then and even got better later in his years, great request, thanks for the great music.

Bethany picked a good song, and artist. Bonnie Owens was singing background. Buck Owens ex-wife, and later Merle's wife/ex wife.

The female backing voice you referred to was most likely Bonnie Owens who was Merle's wife at one point in time. She continued singing backup even after they divorced.
