The context for this song is the Vietnam War. Two million people died in that war. It also led directly to the genocide in Cambodia in which another 4 million people died. All that made people angry, very angry, and some people trashed the country in response -- especially as the war went on and on and on. These days it seems the only person who gets a free pass for trash talking and running down the country is running for president while he runs away from dozens of criminal charges...
