Merle's personal politics were complicated. This song and Okie from M made him huge with conservatives (he sang for Nixon and Reagan and they loved it). But when you actually listen to the lyrics, he's saying that it's okay to believe what you believe, but you also need to stand up for our country, and especially our veterans. You can't argue against that. And as far as reacting to other Merle songs, ummmm yeah yeah you can pretty much pick any one randomly. You cant go wrong.

Go checkout other reaction to this song and you'll notice that every American man, young or older, black or white, silver spoon or hood and we all get more annoyed and aggressive and by the end of the song we dare a mfers to say the slightest thing about our country. It's incredible

When doing my research on the video, that’s something most articles said about the song. I never listen to the song before hand.
