A clip from 1984. Merle would release "Wouldn't That be Something" twice; Once on the "5:01 Blues" album, and again on the "Bluegrass Sessions". "Color Me" was never released.

Merle Haggard such a Powerful story teller of song's. I grew up listening to his music bcoz of my Dad was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame & Honor in 1987 in ATL. Ga. singer song writer & Dad admired every song "The Hag" ~(that's what Dad called him) they met @ The Playboy Room n Atl Ga. Merle always had only great songs I could listen to his tunes all day such a unique voice. I was so sorry when I heard he passed. I Prayed for his Family, friends & fans it broke my heart but true believer in God & God got another Angel in my heart. Thank you for posting this video I'm sure it was on his son's KZbin Ben Haggard sight. God Bless you all 🎶🎵🎶

This song is absolutely beautiful and Merle singing it and thinking of Bonnie , just shows he always had Bonnie on his mind .He loved Bonnie since they were young .It was Bonnie who got Merle started in a singing career. They were always in love with each other but Merle had an eye for the ladies .Even ones he married , when Bonnie @ him divorced .He wrote this song for Bonnie years later ( TODAY .I STARTED LOVING YOU AGAIN ).I Its another wonderful song , l love Merle singing it to Bonnie. Haggard. She shall always be Bonnie Haggard in my life ..RIP if you were only buried next to one @ other .ELIZABETH SCOTLAND .XXXXX❣❣❣

*Wouldn't that be something* ~2:10 If I could show you I could spread my wing and fly away? Wouldn't that be something If I ask you to fly with me on some wild and windy day? Wouldn't that be something If we both fell together and you threw your arms Around me like you needed me Wouldn't that be something? wouldn't that be something? ---------------- You'd probably laugh if you could see the dream I had last night You and I together on our maiden rocket flight we were seated there together with your happy frightened look You and I got young again on that rocket trip we took and wouldn't that be something If you could look at me and see somebody read it again? Wouldn't that be something and we can really fly away and both be young again Wouldn't that be something we could look inside each other's minds always find each other when we needed to? Wouldn't that be some thing? Wouldn't that be some thing?.....

Back in the 70’s, when working at all country KWKY in Des Moines, received a recording by a Gene Watson a new artist out of Texas, the song was, If I’m. A fool for leaving, I’d be twice the fool to stay, I loved that record, just about wore it out, thought it was one greatest tunes I’d ever heard, since the Gene has never failed to impress me his music, he is a classic, right up there, Hank, Merle, Eddy and so many more I can’t recall. Anything Gene Watson does, I love. Larry Heaberlin, retired, KWKY, WHO, WCLU, KRMS and others.
