Every so often I drive between here in Oregon and San Diego, and my route takes me through Bakersfield. from now on, I'll remember Merle, not only when I drive past Merle Haggard Drive, but also when I cross Kern River on Highway 99.

@@donilagringaloca I hear it’s beautiful there. My friend and I used to go back stage and sometimes back to the rooms and hang out with Merle and some of the guys. Such great memories. My friend ran in to Teresa not too long ago ( Merle’s wife) and she was really happy to see her. Merle was a treasure!

I was listening to Sirius XM yesterday Chanel, Prime Country 1000 countdown, and they have Luke Bryan way ahead of; Merle Haggard, George Strait, Patsy Cline, just to name a few. Luke Bryan’s songs don’t even come close to these heavy hitters worse songs!
