One of my best friends would play this at night when we'd go to bed every time I'd spend the night to fall asleep to. It made you feel like you were in the jungle. Very soothing.

I had this on cd and it was the turning point in my deep appreciation of Jerry’s deep talent. It was a topic near and dear to my heart, and to hear the emotion Jerry put into his playing taught me how special his gift was. A lot of players could play from the head and wow you with speed, but Jerry not only did that but really from his heart center. Nobody went deeper into the soul of a song than he did.

My only out of body experience happened when I saw Merle in concert. I left my body rose above the crowd, and went onto the stage where I watched his fingers on the keys for a full minute, then whoosh I came back to where I was standing in the audience. Crazy no drugs just a few beers.

I'm sure it is heretical to some but he could have left the Dead years before he died and done this sort of stuff the rest of his life and I, at least, would have found it very satisfying. He might have even lived a few more years. It is an onerous burden and impossible task to live up to a two dimensional caricature of your younger self.
