I FORGOT HOW EMOTIONALLY DISTRESSING MAKING MERTHUR VIDEOS IS???

I've been avoiding making M//erlin videos for like a year and a half now because last time I made any BOTH OF THEM GOT BLOCKED WORLDWIDE WITHIN A WEEK? but this song is too merthur to NOT make this video, so the risk has been taken. I have dared to venture into dangerous territory. at this point I'm already prepared to scream when youtube fucks me over because THESE TWO ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT
This video sooort of has an actual structure (shocking, I know) with the choruses + that last really intense part of it:
1. First chorus: sort of from Arthur's perspective. He's saying "I should have saved you" to M.erlin after M.erlin reveals his magic because he's wishing he could have ~saved him~ from needing to hide who he is all those years and whatnot
2. M.erlin's perspective, which is pretty obvious
("You will not fail." - Gaius)
("You did not fail." - Kilgharrah)
("LMAO" - Merlin)
3. That last minute or so is kind of a montage of all the ways that they DID save each other? Both in moments of actual danger and also just in terms of like, being there for each other. Being a pal. Even just existing. And stuff.

A beautiful video, brought back so many feels though. Best TV show ever made, the talent in this show was fenomenal. The chemistry was exquisit between these two. But damn did those writers fuck the finale up... It started as a prequel, it should have ended as a prequel, in the legend Arthur does not die shortly after he's king and this story is supposed to be about hope. Hope for a better kingdom one day, a golden age, which we never saw. Instead they snuffed out every hope there was with that miserable ending of poor Merlin waiting forever.

the song goes both ways and we mostly think of Merlin saving Arthur (as the show did too) *but* let us remember all the times Arthur went out of his way to save a wayward, 'useless' servant. Stuck-up Arthur, emotionally constipated if not stunted by his rigid upbringing (no mother, cold-hearted father who demands blind obediency) bullies his entitled way through life and then one day this ridiculous peasant comes his way, insolent and oblivious. The day after that boy saves his life and his father gifts him as servant. Now stuck with that bumbling fool he starts to change. It doesn't take long before he openly defies his father, drinks poison, risks his life over and over again for 'a servant'. When Merlin gets [severly] injured and the two have to separate he acts as if his soul left him. Nothing is important anymore, not his life nor Camelot. That is the extend of Arthur's 'I should have saved you'...
