@KiloShock5 жыл бұрын
You can't get it because the way the hull planes in and out of the water changes the load on the engine. He is not jacking with the throttle. It's pinned and the load is changing because if the changing drag of the boats hull in the water.
@mikeftx8355 жыл бұрын
thats how diesel engines run, the load is gone when it comes out of the water and then the engine floods with fuel hence the black smoke and then the boost lag comes in and when if boosts it comes out of the water again. boost can only be achieved with a load and when i hops out of the water it looses boost.

What's with all the damn throttling? The boat isn't even leaving the water
@ROTAXD7 жыл бұрын
DaBrute trust me, he likely does not even understand the concept of backing off when the prop leaves the water like an actual offshore boat owner does. What that tard is doing is intentionally closing the throttle then whacking it again to impress all of the 12 year olds that still think rolling coal means big hp.
@macgyver151477 жыл бұрын
Diesel engines do not like high RPM about 3,000 RPM redline. The boat has an under sized prop for the power. So it seems he is accelerating in short 5 mile per hour bursts as to not stay at redline for prolonged time.

I'd like to see the Dyno results that backs the HP claim. There are motors out there that are half the size that can put 90mph to shame. He did have a nice truck though.
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix5 жыл бұрын
He needs a different prop. With that prop it doesn't matter if he has 150hp or 1,000hp, it's still going to do the same speed at that rpm. Kind of like driving around in 1st gear all day. Needs a more aggressive pitch on the prop. Then it will cruise at higher speeds while turning lower rpm.
@blackbirdxx9285 жыл бұрын
rochab77 it's a turbo, the more gear you throw at it the more the motor loads the more power it makes the harder it pulls. With 70"s in the vdrive and 1:1 trans an a 16 prop is only good for 70 not counting prop slip.
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix5 жыл бұрын
@@blackbirdxx928 what I'm saying is no matter how much horsepower you have it's going to go the same speed at the same rpm until the load from the prop is greater than the power of the engine. That's what I'm explaining to Robert north. In this case it isnt horsepower limiting the top speed, its rpm limited. Like on a car whis top speed limited by engine rpm instead of being limited by drag.
@blackbirdxx9285 жыл бұрын
rochab77 sorta kinda although horsepower is not limited by rpm, he backs off the throttle to keep rpm within the mechanical limitations of the motor. More speed takes more HP and the increase load on the motor makes more boost. Drive down a flat road with my 24 valve, start up a hill and without changing the throttle setting mph will increase. Merlin's deal just needs more gears because unlike a gas motor a diesel has a very limited safe rpm range...BBC starts making usable power a 2k and with a decent valve train could make power to 8k+ . 12 valve starts to get happy at 1k and could start spitting parts at 3500.
@MrMechanic-mb4yh4 жыл бұрын
Yes these half size engines also have a higher rpm range so you have to take that into consideration

I've done a little over 75mph in an 18.5 ft speedboat with a 318 Chrysler inboard/outboard setup, when I was a teenager. Very low to the water, like this boat is also. And the only feeling of speed I've felt that eclipsed it was a few motorcycles I've ridden. Not even doing 150mph in a car beats the feeling. And that's truly an amazing feeling especially on a public highway. So I can only imagine what 90mph feels like. Being that close to the water really makes how fast you're going sink in. I would love to feel the adrenaline rush from this boat. I bet it will jack you up better then good cocaine will! I highly recommended a fast boat, if you're an adrenaline junky, and your wallet is FAT! 😊 If you're off average means. Might I suggest a dirt bike, or a really fast go kart? Both have the ability to leave skid marks, and put your laundry detergent to the test. 😂

diesels build power under load. in the video you can see that there are waves which are making the boat jump a bit. that movement of the boat would be just enough to change the load on the motor. he isnt on and off the throttl, he's got it pinned. the reason it surges is because when the boat is fully in the water, it puts a load on the engine and it builds boost. then, when the boat skips or jumps, the load is gone and the engine stops building boost, this dumps fuel into the cylinders, when the load is reintroduced the engine builds boost again and causes the engine to surge. that fuel dump when there isnt any boost is whats also causing the smoke.

@@matthewallen978 I get where you are coming from, but I stand by my statement from 3 years ago. A higher pitch prop would put more load on the engine and thus keep the engine running under boost. @@jeremymcauliff8485 v drive hulls do become unstable at high speeds but thats above 150 mph, so a higher pitch would do the boat a load of good.
