MERMAIL Link Combos #2: Dragoons + Abyssteus = Bahamut + Toad, Moulinglacia, & Knightmare Gryphon

So Dragoons going to 3 actually has a very large impact on the good openings this deck can perform. Today's video is going to be some slightly altered combo openings to show multiple ways to get to a standardized result. Great video, I love plaiyng mermails, keep making these kind of tutorials, also if you are not afraid of handtraps you can use the first dragoons to search diva, which Will summon neptabyss and let you have an extra Monster on the Field, and is also usually the only tuner in the deck, genex controller aside

I'm guessing you only watched the first combo in which case searching Diva changes nothing about your ending field. You still have to link away with Moulinglacia to make Gryphon so you gain nothing from it other than a more vulnerable play.

Nice. You have any other combo variations that use Unicorn, or perhaps AbyssMander so you can overlay the Moulin and a Mermail for a rank 8 like Harbinger etc. ?

eh. usually whenever mander is involved the better play is to go into True King of Calamitys with it. Harbringer is a tad powercrept in the situation.

Summon Sorceress will be really helpful for the deck. I managed to drop Decode Talker and Underclock Taker (for Mistar Boy) and still end on the same board with all 4 combos. Just the 2,5 card combo with Teus + Neptabyss was really hard to figure out and I needed to include Crystron Phoenix (special summoned with Summon Sorceress using Tomahawk). I wonder how you would make this work. Will there be an updated video once SS is legal?

Ngl I know lots of people would scream “list list” but I kinda like you just show generic combos. It lets us learn some combos in whatever list we wanna play for Mermails around the cores. You hate Sekka builds but this still applies so it all works out for mine lol

Hey what's your opinion of sneaking a few coelacanths and three copies of oyster meister into a mermail deck? Superancient Deepsea King coelacanth is not a hard once per turn and it seems abusable, but do you think it's worth the potential brickfest if you draw oyster meister?

Yea. You can do that. You can only get the Teus search eff once per turn. You can summon as many as you want.

Hey Phoenix, big fan of your videos like this. I noticed alot of your Mermail videos, well all of them, are aimed towards 'old mermail' basically the non Sekka version. What's your opinion on that variant?

Matthew Black I’m not Phoenix but someone else asked a similar question and according to him, it’s a significantly worse version. You’re taking away good cards like greed, soul charge, etc all for a draw 2. It’s also bad bc of the spyral match up bc they can call monster with a 95% guarantee of getting it right and going on combos.

I really don't like the fact that if your opponent breaks this board (which is not really an issue these days for top tier decks with the amount of monster removal cards) you essentially lose the game, and let's not even talk about what would happen if the combo gets interrupted halfway through. You burn through the entire extra deck and use up all your Dragoons in this combo. I won't deny that it's a nasty board to overcome if your opponent don't have the common outs to it like Kaijus or hand traps to stop the sequence but is a very glass cannon way to play the deck imo.

You'd be wrong & I've explained it multiple times across all the mermail videos. Abyss-Sphere is a disruption to stop opponent's plays.
