Let's start with some details for these Merrell Alverstone hiking shoes:
100% Leather and Textile
Imported
Rubber sole
Shaft measures approximately Ankle from arch
Suede leather and mesh upper
Merrell Air Cushion in the heel absorbs shock and adds stability
Merrell Kinetic Fit BASE removable contoured footbed for flexible support
So, after doing this Merrell Alverstone waterproof review, I have to say, I like these! They are comfortable, have decent outsole and fairly light weight. You will like these if you prefer wider toe box fit, as it is usually the case with Merrell shoes and boots.
Because these boots are newer on the market, there are not too many Amazon reviews on these yet, but it is worth mentioning that these Merrell boots made it to a few online lists like best Merrell hiking boots, best Merrell hiking shoes, most comfortable hiking boots for men and a few others.
Also, there is also Merrell Alverstone Mid GTX version if you prefer GTX waterproofing!

I've used these the sole worn away pretty quick 6 months walking 2 mile a day plus, very comfortable.

I will never buy a boot with open hooks. They always make me trip when they get hung up on the laces These seem like what I'm looking for so Thanks for the great video. I do alot of walking on tile so if they work good there that is a definite plus and they seem to still have good enough tread for trails and rocks. And the fact that they are on the wider side is perfect for my feet. Thanks

Question, how is the gusset of the tongue on these? I tried a pair of Moab 2 Waterproof shoes, and the gusset of the tongue was so thick where it folded over that I sent them back, just too much material digging into the top of the foot.

I used to wear Merrell Yokota 2 as my everyday shoe, but since I work indoors a lot more now, they're just two reservoirs ugly. For minimal break in out of the box comfort, Merrell works really well with my feet.

Ah yes, the boot that were formerly used by the French Foreign Legion during their time in the desert. Although most of the Palladium boots are made for fashion, I don’t think they’re deemed to be suitable for hiking just by how thin and hollow the outsoles are, because if you step on a rock while wearing them, you can definitely feel it. Plus, the gusset isn’t extended past the ankle if you’re thinking of getting a waterproof version of a pair, as you can definitely get your feet wet, and there’s no ankle support on t.

On the nose of the boot also on another places merrel uses bad synthetic matherial, which brakes after a couple of monthes. I wrote them about this problem with my boot with photos, they said that will change them, but when I said that I from Ukraine they refused to do this.

This boots are very slippery on wet pavement and other smooth wet surfaces! It’s terrible in that regard! It's great for keeping your feet dry, not sweaty!
