Many changes this year: The moving shield and 'Vitaphone' (which had been repurposed to handle all of Warners' short subjects), along with the 'target' background; the change to Carl Stalling in the music department after he came over from the defunct Celebrity Pictures; it was he who changed the theme to "Merrily We Roll Along" from "I Think You're Ducky". Full Technicolor. The "Blue Ribbons" were designed to eliminate prior credits; primarily Fred Avery, Bob Clampett, Jack King and Frank Tashlin.

The opening theme in the intro for merrie melodies before Merrily We Roll Along is 100x better imo. Has a "you know shit's gonna go down" type feel.

Here's how Page Miss Glory's titles would have looked with the regular title format: SUPERVISION: Fred Avery ORCHESTRATIONS: Bernard Brown ANIMATION: Charles Jones - Bob Clampett
@stephenholloway6893 Жыл бұрын
Expect for 1 thing, Tex Avery directed that short and odds are it probably would had included his animators at the time. Unless he borrowed Friz's for that short.

Can you please do all Merrie Melodies openings in high quality?
@traeyboy5293 жыл бұрын
Not all of the Merrie Melodies shorts can be found in high quality. Regarding this video, there is a better quality version of the original opening titles for "I Wanna Play House" from a foreign broadcast of the Turner dubbed version though I don't know why the one seen in the video is used. The Censored Eleven are expected to not have high quality versions (excluding the music sequence from "Clean Pastures" being re-used and edited in "Have You Got Any Castles?" in the 1937-1938 season, which *is* the closest to such a short in the Censored Eleven list being shown on television) due to the withdrawal in the late-60s.

@@smasherjosh5000 A decent try, but the HBO Max restorations are actually photoshopped. It’s not just these ones, but any previously unrestored short before being put on the streaming service have this issue. You can tell from how the rings are too far out and how the text (title, MM logo and copyright notice) fade in and out. Kinda shocking considering how Page Miss Glory, I Love to Singa and The Coo-Coo Nut Grove were restored before HBO Max (via the Looney Tunes Golden Collection DVD series) and actually look more authentic and taken from their original film negatives
