I too work at shitty gas station at the edge of a crappy little town. I've worked the midnight shift here for the past 9 years. And I can definitely relate to the story. For example, I've been robbed by a giant Easter bunny, locked in the bathroom by the "2 o'clock people " (don't ask), chased around the store by a rouge parrot, oh, but my favorite... The naked horseman, who runs by the store every night. Doesn't stop, or say anything....just a guy in his tidy whities, and a rubber horse mask. So yeah..I'm right there with ya Jack.
