My Merry Fisher 795 was an amazing boat the style, usability and safety on the water made her an excellent family boat, when we picked her up from the Hamble on our way back to our home port Poole, we uncounted some serious sea's where the waves were breaking over the boat which to say the least was somewhat scary however, she handled brilliantly and got us home safe and sound.

May I pick your brains? I’m just about to get a merry fisher 585, has a 75hp 2 stroke evinrude etec outboard. I’m keeping her at Haslar marina, how far can you go out and back on a tank of fuel?

Hands down Evinrude 2strokes are killers but considering the fact that a 75hp has to push such a heavy boat as the 585 I'd say that it's not gonna come cheap ( talking about the fuel) . In this case I would suggest a 4stroke engine with power not bigger than 115 hp.

@@nick_s-fl6fq thanks mate, also do you keep yours in the water?. I noticed the one I’m looking at has a manual bilge pump rather than electric- do you find there’s much water to pump out and how often would you do it?. Sorry for all the questions - I don’t know anyone with the same boat to ask

@@andrewsmith3551 well to be honest with you I'm not going to give you an answer because I'm not 100% sure ... But I'll tell you this ... Automatic bilge pumps are easier to use ( as you can understand) but manual ones are good too ... My opinion is ( although I could be completely wrong ) that they do not have any difference rather than the effort it takes for you to pump the water with your hand.

Just watched a video of an Antares 6 with an inboard engine, same hull as the Merry Fisher I imagine, and the weird thing is it stays flat in a turn, it doesn't lean into a turn as one would expect. Any idea why?
