I don’t even know what to say, this is SO SPOT ON! Good Lord, I went through menopause when my youngest was going off to college. I cried at the grocery store in front of the cheerios. I cried in front of the chocolate pudding and the macaroni and cheese. “These are a few of his favorite things…”. My friend found me weeping in the aisle and sent me home🤣. The thinning hair! The night sweats (7 years later and I still have those)! And the mood swings? That’s no joke. It’s a miracle my husband is still alive! Thank you for this. It’s real. It’s all real.

I remember when we were kids, people were treating menopause like it was a dirty word. They just called it THE CHANGE, like it was some plot device in a dystopian novel. Which, you know. Fair. Anyway I don't know if Kim will see this, but if you can make time for it, I HIGHLY recommend listening to the recent Science Vs. podcast episode about menopause, which is excellent and covers a whole bunch of stuff people never talk about (including doctors). These perimenopause videos are spot on. I am 57, went through menopause at age 52. And literally in the last week… All my awful symptoms were gone. I’ve been not doing HRT. I would have my bathtub full of cold water and have to get into it multiple times a night. Along with ice packs all around me. I couldn’t sleep with this constant heat moving all around. I also got a really great topper for my mattress from Costco. Prior, all my heat went into the mattress and stayed there all night. This one literally allows no heat to build up. It’s a thin top, but the technology inside is really good. and I also had extreme itchy spots that when stressed… Which felt like 24 7.… And those are all completely gone. I am so thankful. I can’t believe I made it through! It’s not for the faint of heart.

@BillPrehlАй бұрын
@LadyRenira You are 100% correct. The two work in tandem. The receptors on cells in the body area keyed to respond to the estrogen. The progesterone acts as an estrogen blocker. I suggest everyone check out The New Menopause book by Dr. Haver. Note, Kim and Penn follow her on social media as well. I absolutely loved this video! It broke my heart to learn about all the suffering women endure because of peri- and menopause. I had no idea. It was like a silent generation of suffering.

So I asked my doctor why I am not and she confirmed it's my birth control (which I take for reasons other than birth control). Essentially, my daily dose of hormones which make me happy and have other medical benefits will prevent me from ever entering menopause or peri menopause. I don't know why everyone just doesn't try it! I'd say try the HRT.
