Captain Britain is overlooked despite being where the main Marvel universe's number was 1st dropped, having a team of multiverse counterparts before Deadpool and Spider-man, And the fact of who his sister ends up becoming.

It doesn't help that generally speaking he's based in Britain which means he's away from all North American/US focused happenings. Outside the US must be relatively peaceful most of the time, except when someone in New York is destroying the world, altering the timeline, or the universe at large, lol.

As a Brit myself, I always appreciate it whenever any of the Captain Britains are given the spotlight. Brian in particular is interesting in that he's one of those characters who seems to be in a perpetual state of deconstruction and reconstruction. Which you would think would be a detriment. But its actually very fitting given who he is. Captain Britain is a symbol of Great Britain... in that he is the symbol of a crumbling empire.

Back in the day when I was a kid growing up in Paris Marvel comic books were translated by a company called "Lug Publisher" that sold them in various formats... One day I went to my usual newsstand to get my Comic books and I saw this strange new character called "Captain Britain" with a flashy costume and the Union Jack on it, I bought it and I was instantly hooked 😁😁😁 The Captain Britain comic books were the original stories with the character's origin and 8 or more stories presented as a graphic novel... Over the years my Marvel comic book collection grew and still grows and I bought all the Captain Britain stuff I could find... If there ever was a Captain Britain movie one day I'd be overjoyed...Hell, even a TV show would be great... We can dream, can't we 🙂🙂🙂🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 ?

No, I prefer the original costume myself. The later costumes just --! They're not memorable. The look of the costume keeps changing because the later designs IMHO are fairly bland. There were a lot of good character designs from Marvel that debuted in the 1970s. I think despite the funkiness of some of these designs they've held up BETTER than redesigns for the likes of Spider-Woman 1, Black Widow, Luke Cage/Power Man, and Wolverine (Gil Kane/Giant Size X-Men 1 cover; the original "kitty mask" John Romita, Sr. designed for him WAS ridiculous!!!). I prefer the red color scheme, lion crest, and Union Jack mask on the original Captain Britain costume. This original costume is also the Captain Britain bust (variant) I ended up buying years ago when Bowen Designs offered it. The reason why the costume was changed later on was because Alan Davis didn't like drawing it. Davis is the artist responsible for the second Britain costume seen in the Marvel UK series as well as the third Captain Britain costume that debuted in the original Excalibur comic book series.

Great video diving deep into the backstory of before the hero became a hero. All the Merlin info felt like a second mini video included in the main one. Captain Britain needs a part 2. You were just getting to the good stuff when this one ended. How about a video on a future teammate of Captain Britain, my favorite multiversal immigrant to the 616 universe, RACHEL SUMMERS.
